Ige Conversion Problems

Morning all,

Engineering is using “Ideas Master Series 12” to create our mold databases. These files are saved with a .mf# extension. They are then converted to iges files. We then import the files as *.igs and work with them. The only problem being, after converting to iges all data comes in on one level rather than on the different levels they were created on. Is anyone familiar with The Ideas Master Series software ( I believe it may related to UG), and if so, can anybody assist us with what we are missing in the conversion of the files and losing the levels information on export. Thanks for any assistance.

What is being used to convert the .mg# files to IGES?

I assume “Ideas Master Series 12”.

From what you're saying I would also assume that whatever process is creating the IGES files is also "squashing" the levels.

But that is just a semi-educated guess at this point, not having an actual IGES file to look at.

If to have a sample IGES that demonstrates this behavior and can send it to us, we can certainly take a look at it.

Zip it up and send it off the QC <at> mastercam <dot> com, and include a note that references this Forum topic.
