Chris means that he posted a reply to the forum twice - not that you needed twice the time to post code...

The fundamental difference in in the "Force".

A Milling machine must absorb more Force and be much more rigid than a Router. This is because the Specific Horsepower to remove 1 cubic inch of metal is at minimum an order of magnitude more than the Specific Horsepower required to remove a similar volume of wood.

Here is the proof. Grab a sheet of 180 sand paper and rub it on a block of wood for 30 minutes. Be sure to collect all the sawdust and measure the dimensions of the plank after and calculate the amount of material removed.

Once the feeling comes back into your arm, repeat the same on a chunk of steel and compair the results.

Individual results may vary. Please seek the advise of your Metalurigical Practitioner before starting any new analysis programs. This analysis technique not applicable where prohbited by law.

Well look at the FIDIA Machines for a cost reduction compared to everyone else. Still a chunck of Change but From what I can see the only one in that size foot print to have a full 5th axis head. Have run the router and yeah rigity sucks on router great for doing wood and REN Shapes and good for sizes. The other thing I think some forgot to metion is the Many times you have to retrue the machine when it goes out normally a 8 hour process. I recommend it at least once a month maybe more if you have problems with it holding size.
