Pipe tap

Hi as there is no Pipe Tap tools in default library, can anybody give some best practice how to program them.

 

For example even if I pick up regular tapping tool from library and try to program with it, there are problems with synchronization of speed and feed. As even if I try to change number of threads in a Tool tab, MC still calculate feed based on original library tool. I know that I can manually change thing in G code, but are there any smooth solution for this.

Hi Roland,

 

Mill or lathe?

 

In Mill, you can change the thread pitch in the main tool definition tab, but you are ALSO required to change the feedrate in the parameters page in order for mastercam to pick up the updated feedrate. If both of these are changed then your new feedrate should be brought in. I believe in lathe that if you change it in the thread pitch section of tool definition it should update in your feedrate parameters automatically.

Last I checked( 10 minutes ago), when I change the pitch and crate a new tool, my version of MCAM updates the feedrate to match the RPM x PITCH.
