  1. I'm not sure in that logic in post. it is best to align machine. or to solve that on control parameters. in reality, I'm sure that there will be combination which that logic in post can't predict and it will go in wrong direction from what is in MC.
  2. I know something about that, but I need more data. is just resharpening, or custom geometry? some extra geometry, how many?? how many types?? etc...
  3. answer that I found is that you can't change it from Coordinates button. I doesn't update if you change it from some reason. so what I found that work is to copy or import similar Operation that you want to use and select Group name and select Change common parameters. from there you select desired WCS and it will update. then you need to adjust Operation a little bit. and then you are good. still faster then to make new one.
  4. hey thanks for help. I just found one way that works. so problem is solved, only needs some rework on OPs. I'm sorry, but I just wanted to say, if you know the answer and want to share it then write it. if you don't want to share it or you don't know answer that don't write what nobody asked you. is something wrong with that??
  5. I just hope that best MC users know better answer then "training, training, training" good night!
  6. nothing works so far. obviously it is not simple job that it should be, at least. please if somebody knows direct and full answer on simple question: how to change WCS in Operation that is, or imported or belongs to different part??? please only direct and full answers. No hints or stupid advises, please!!!!! I read enough here of two parrots that are repeating only two words reseller and training. Thanks!!
  7. so is that, that Right Click on desired WCS in Manager and >Import can do it?? well, im going to sleep, I'll check it tomorrow. enough for today!!
  8. well thank you for your try now, but it doesn't change it for me!!! if I ask question here! and if I say that dealer doesn't know, than I say it from reason. because I already tried all other options!!! So, I so far can't get Changing of WCS on Coordinate button. you can change Work Offset number as I see, but not much is happening there. WCS still stays how it was. there is only another TPlane. So I'm just interested how you can get it to change from Coordinate button.
  9. ha ha, I'm waiting if there will be somebody smarter!! yes I'm sure that you know answer ha ha!! what a joke. that you know it, you would answer it first time. sell that to somebody else ha ha.
  10. do you all here work like resellers??? I asked reseller and he didn't know if you are interested. so please don't waste server memory with writing about that!! why are you here pointing on things that nobody asked?? who are you guys??? once more: explicit question was "is it possible to change WCS of Operation if it is imported from external file, or it belongs to some other part"!!!!!!! clear and simple!!! please answer the question if you know direct answer!! I would really appreciate that. In a case that you don't know answer, thanks for reading and good night!!
  11. maybe stock helps you who don't have enough imagination so you need help for visualizing. for me its waste of time and it complicates everything. totally not needed tool. and I'm afraid that I can help to my reseller much more than he can help me in MC. but however as I see you said that it is easy to change WCS in lathe if OPs are imported or used from some other file. but I can't see your answer how!!! please don't go away from main subject!!
  12. no I prefer not to use stock. I found it much faster and simpler. only profile!! but can it work if operation is created in some other file?? not on that part??
  13. Hi, I just started to use Lathe in MC. I did a lot of milling in MC last years and Lathe before on other softwares. I can't hide my surprise how bad MC Lathe is in comparation with Mill. Toolpaths are good, only retraction direction is missing. but plane logic it terrible. why they don't just do what they have in mill?? but however. I have many different parts and many of them are very similar. In milling I would just have them in same file and just copy complete operation group and assign new WCS and geometry and I would be done. but in Lathe even if I copy my operations in the same file and want to machine back side in another setup it is impossible to change WCS of already created operation. so I guess that importing of operations in lathe has no any sense and can't work anyhow. or I'm missing something??? anybody knows how to change WCS of operation???
  14. settin to retract off doesn't work on my X5 as it goes to clerance. yes maybe there are ways to cheat, but I like smooth solutions. but thanks so far.
  15. thanks! than I need an update!!! but I cannot believe that they didn't have that in X5. that nobody didn't think about that so recently. I was in Surfcam before and I used this long time ago. but I don't complain against MC in general!!!
  16. hi is it possible to make tool-path preferably pocket with island, and machine it with many constant Z steps like in High Feed Machining. But that tool never retracts to from machining level. so tool should always stay down and when it clears whole Z level just ramp from mahined Z level to next level. but not to retracts anywhere in Z. I'm stuck at X5 if that has any importance. something like this, but possible with some islands:
  17. thanks djstedman, that is what I concluded so far. if you know any drills that could do that type chip evacuation please inform me.
  18. Hi here are many topics about deep drilling and I read most of them but I still don't have an answer for my problems. I need to drill two concentric holes in part, where upper one is just counter-bore and bigger with depth of 1.4in, and lower one has tolerance of .375, -0/+.002 and is 1.25 deep. But they start at the bottom of the pocket which is 1.25 deep. Here is a problem: if I try to drill them after making of a pocket all chips are dropping in a hole if I peck outside of upper hole because they are stuck in pocket and coolant brings them in a hole. And if I try to drill hole before making a pocket I'm wasting a time as I need to drill material which will be removed when pocket will be made. And hand changing of G code as I want that tool that drills lower hole starts at the bottom of upper hole, but peck all the way out of holes!! Now I'm considering using some other strategies like chip break where tool will peck just a little bit and not go out of hole. So if somebody is familiar with this kind of problem I would appreciate any advise, that I don't need to test by myself!! here is what I have: aluminum. 300 parts. no coolant thru spindle. no programming problems, just parameter and tooling problems. here is what I'm interested: to drill holes after making of pocket. to start lower hole at the bottom of upper hole and keep tool down till it finishes drilling. which tools to use and with which strategy and parameters (can it be just chip break and no regular peck outside of hole. or maybe no peck). Are there drill tools that can make nice finish of lower hole of .375 -0/+.002 tolerance 1.25 deep that I don't need to use reamer after. Thanks for any suggestions!!!
  19. this ceramic is very different from glass. But it can wear tool real quick. I ran first .250 diameter 2in deep with: feed: 7in/min, rpm: 500/min. Later I got diamond coated, same parameters but tool last way more then carbide. I ran so far .078 diameter carbide but just 1.4 deep with rpm:2500/min and 7in/min feed
  20. thanks, what I see in catalog Mitsubishi should work. Gun drill cannot work as tool must be relived behind cutting edge.
  21. Hi, I need to make a hole in some type of ceramic material, so drill must be carbide or harder. But hole must be .080 in diameter or smaller, and another thing it must be 2 inches deep. if anybody knows for such a drill please inform me! Thanks!
  22. Hi as there is no Pipe Tap tools in default library, can anybody give some best practice how to program them. For example even if I pick up regular tapping tool from library and try to program with it, there are problems with synchronization of speed and feed. As even if I try to change number of threads in a Tool tab, MC still calculate feed based on original library tool. I know that I can manually change thing in G code, but are there any smooth solution for this. Thanks!
  23. suggestion is that there is simple solution for that calles stage tool in post. search for that switch
  24. Yes, I also did neg. stock to leave on all surfaces when I was programming electrodes. I don't know what these guys are doing. only thing that this looks much easier to program. but interesting thing is that I just checked one of trodes, and the one with shape of half cilinder. on that shape destortion should be obvious but on comperator it is perfect semi cilinder. so there must be so comp. in Z. or is cheating on pickup.
  25. Hi I don't do so much of EDM sinker but I saw different techniques of electrode cutting in two companies. Its not important to me but I would like to hear what others think. So if you want you are welcome to share. Mainly, in company where I was we would design electrode with overburn size and then in programming just cut it with negative stock to leave for overburn in both x-y and z. that was completely logical to me. But now I saw company where they cut electrode without negative stock to leave at all. but thing is that they put just smaller diameter value for tool in program (which is double then desired ovrerburn/means overburn comp on radius). but they don't compensate nothing in Z. If I try to imagine cutting in 3D toolpath that looks like distorted geometry shape to me. What you guys think about that? What are your practices? If I think there is possibility to even do it on third way for example to scale electrode. somebody tried that?
