Tool sizes in Verify

Has anyone noticed that the tools in Verify show a bigger than the called out size ?? I'm finding a 3/4" endmill shows about .758" This is just an Auto defined tool, displayed "as Defined" in Verify.

No this is not really a big deal, except when I use a Custom tool WITH the holder and spindle drawn with the tool, the same 3/4" endmill shows about .850" which is just not acceptable.

It seems the larger the tool is drawn the larger the scaleing factor seems to be.

I just want to be able to see the tool, holder and spindle in Verify, so I create a Custom tool using that geomerty.

X6 MU2

Thanks and what can be done about this ??

Try it and tell me what you get .... you can tell what size the tool is in Verify by defining your stock as cylindrical and a certain size, in this case 3/4" Do a drill routine with the 3/4" endmill and very the size of the stock. After Verify runs you can see if there is any stock left over ... very the size of the stock until the stock just goes away ... this is the size of your tool.

I used a 13.2" dia. spindle drawn onto the toolholder and tool

Back plot seems fine

GOT IT !!!

I fist set the tool Tol. in Verify to .0010" and the tool was much closer, so I set the same tol. to .0001" and the tool is now withn .0020" of the correct size, close enough. Funny how Verify scales the tool based on the tool size, in my case with the 13.20" spindle dia, it scaled it a lot.

THANKS

Just when you think you know everything too ...
