CHANGE IMPORTED SOLID

Hey All,

 

I'm new to mastercam. I have a series of parts that I have to machine quite often. All the parts are almost identical. There may only be a small change in a few dimension. I draw them in Autodesk Inventor and import them into mastercam. The tools and operations are the same for every part. Is there anyway I can keep the tools and operations but change the part without having to redo the whole thing?

What I do for this type of situation is take a finished file, save it as a new file name, then import the new solid to a new level, and move to same position as previous part. Then only change the operations that need to be changed..

if that is very offten and long term I would consider parametric programing, that would also save time to draw new parts, that will make some expences but in long term is very useful

First export your operations. Then when you open a new model you just have to import the operation, and select the part.

I tried Change Recognition. It keeps the same toolpath and doesn't change along with the change in geometry of the part.

 

I also tried exporting my operations. The problem is that when I import them into the new part, it doesn't have any geometry at all. I also tried to option to save geometry when I exported and imported but it just keeps the same toolpath as the original part.

 

I just want to be able to basically have a template with all my operations and when I bring the new part in, it recognizes and changes the toolpath to the new slight change in part.

Change recognition IS what you want.

Have u tried the analyze entity properties

If their is a constrction line say a circle you can change its diameter and the solid and even a fillet or chamfer will change with it
