machine path differs from backplot paths

Recommended Posts

My first thought is are you using computer comp or controller comp? The less thinking a controller of any price has to do the more predictable the results in my opinion.

If you are using computer comp instead of controller then we would need more info... machine and controller type at least.

Are you leaving any material on the walls for a finish pass to clean up? Are you filtering your toolpath at all? what type of machine/control are you running the code on? Are you posting IJK for arcs or R? Do you have "allow 360 arcs" checked in your control def?

Are you using the high-feed codes for your machine? For mine I put in G5.1Q1R5 to turn it on, where the R goes from 1 = smooth to 10 = accurate. I use 5 for roughing and 8 for finishing. Basically this tells the machine to slow down for corners and such so it doesn't overshoot, and also saves wear on the machine. If I leave it off you can hear the machine slam with every change in direction at those high feed rates.
