We use G61.1, but without the G5P2...

According to the manual you can not use G61.1, G61.2, G5P0, or G5P2 when G54.2 mode is active... The manual is wrong (at least about G61.1). With software updates we are running G61.1 with G54.2 active. Contact your Mazak app. guy to find out if it applies to G5P2 as well.

Todd, the K value is to adjust "accuracy."

K70 is default, and a K value is not required.

So if you just call "G61.1" it's the same as calling "G61.1,K70"

I don't know which Variaxis you have, but the machine should cut dead nuts accurate with just "G61.1". I haven't needed to go above K70. For roughing where you have plenty of stock and don't want to slow down very much in the corners, you can call a lower K value, or just not call G61.1 at all.

G64 cancels it, but you don't have to actually ever cancel it. The machine will do everything with it active. Drilling cycles will go a tiny bit faster with it cancelled though.

BTW: Pics of the new machine or it didn't happen. ;)

Jeremy,

What are the beneffits of G54.4 over G54.2?

Our Variaxis machines are Matrix controls without G54.4 option on them and I can't find any info regarding G54.4 in our manuals. Is G54.4 Matrix 2 controller option or is it available for Matrix as well?

BTW, the search option on this forum is horrible!!!!

It is available on both. G54.4 allows for an A and C dynamic offset and will track it properly. You can also have a skew about X, Y, or Z. G05, M821-M830, and G43.4 is legal so you don have to use inverse time, and all you prosition numbers match your program numbers unlike G54.2. Here is a pdf on it.
