Good news for calibration of 5 axis machines

That is strange, I've always found Renishaw to have some of the most complete and detailed instructions of anyone in the machine tool industry.

Turned out they didn't rev the Siemens version manual *sigh*. The support guy spent 2 hours on the phone with me trying to figure out what was wrong and it ended up being wrong information in their manual. Had to wait for UK to tell him.

 

Got it dialed in on both of my machines. I'll know tonight or tomorrow if the changes I made did anything lol.

You are probably fighting the curvic coupling. When you make the small adjustment it takes the number but when it clamps the coupler pulls it out. When you put the big number it wont let it clamp. This would require physically aligning the coupler.

Yes, there were some significant mechanical issues. Great service tech from gosiger had to do some alignment of the casting (instead of tearing open the head) along with parameters. Thing is aligned great and cutting good.
