G28 modifications?

Looking for a way to edit the G28 in the program to either designate a different home position or to just remove it from the G code all together.

No reason for everything to go home just to come back for the next toolpath. I generally just edit this line out, but if it can be corrected in MasterCam then all the better.

Thanks

Have your post modified to choose between using the Reference Return (G28) or Tool Home Position.

You can use a Miscellaneous Integer as the flag for your choice or you can simply modify the post to only use the Tool Home.

You could even have a user prompt for the choice.

In layman's terms........The post is a post processor that takes the code from the cam system ( in this case NCI for MCAM) and turns it into code your machine/controller can read. The nc code you edit is the result. Within this post are sets of intstructions that can be manipulated to get the results you need. Editing the post is basically changing the instructions via the post processor language to get those reults. That way the code gets kicked out the way you want and you don't have to edit by hand. Different machined/controllers have their own posts.......

If you haven't used any cam system before , you need to read up on it and/or take some classes. Do the research. You can get posts edited through your reseller or CNC Software, inc , or mebbe on this site, or through third parties.

It's a process.......if you are going to mess with your post processor........back it up , back it up, BACK IT UP !! ;) Basically you need to learn about it, save the original and a copy to alter, make some changes then test it out......

There is a post forum here as well.........
