Just started using x7 went to post something after I had picked the generic haas 4x mill

when I try and select it from the machine drop down menu in MC I get an error axis combination not supported.

Tried deleting and repicking the post cant seem to get around this.

Any ideas?

all I want to do is use the generic Haas 4X post.

Hi DaveR,

It's happened when rotating part about not supported axis(like 5 axis).

You can rotate your part or plane only about one axis X or Y depending on machine.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Michael.

I'm sorry I may have not made my question clear.

When you first open MC on a new part...before you have done anything....not even imported the part file yet... you have to pick a machine right?

I try and pick my machine (haas 4x mill ) and it says axis combination not supported and then defaults to the generic 3x mill

Hi again, DaveR

Try this:

Start Mcam, click Machine type, choose Mill - Manage list.

In open MD Menu Management in right window(Machine Definition Menu) click on Haas 4x machine, click Remove.

Check that Current Machine Definition Directory is right, must to be C:\Users\Public\Documents\Shared McamX7\CNC_Machines\.

Choose from left window Haas 4x machine, click Add, Click green V button.

Try now choose your machine from Machine Type menu.

I hope this will help.

Good luck!

Sincerely,

Michael.

here is the error

I tried removing and re picking, the directory is correct that did not work.

This is on a brand new install. Brand new computer box running Win 7.

Hi DaveR,

All that I can suggest is reinstall Mcam. I think something wrong during installation.

After uninstall delete My McamX7 and Public McamX7 folders.

This very strange bug. If this will not help send message to Mastercam support.

Sorry it's all that I can.

Sincerely,

Michael.

OK Solved.

I deleted the user file and the machine group file and did a repair and that seemed to solve it

Wierd.

Thanks for your help.

Dave

Hi Dave,

I am glad that problem resolved.

Good luck.

Sincerely,

Michael.
