FAI - Software

I'm looking at InspectionExpert for FAI report generation, and trying to decide what approach is most likely to yield decent results. Most of our customers will supply us with a dxf file that will hopefully allow capture of associative dimensions and notes or other callouts without alot of hand editing the reports.

 

Can anyone recommend a better software for this purpose or share experience with this software?

 

Or maybe suggest a different format to import the dim's from?

 

I have AutoCad 2014 and Solidworks 2013. I think dxf is probably the best format to import dim's from without having a solid model to work with.

 

Any suggestions?

We use a Pdf printer then do Inspection Xpert off of that. That way you can do pretty much everything. The software can usually pick up the features pretty well.

We use the PDF version of InspectionXpert.We get our prints via .tiff or pdf. I find it to solve 90%+ of the problems that we had before starting to use this software.

Verisurf has a addin for Inspection Expert that will link measurements taken in to to the items made ballooned inside of Inspection Expert. Let me know you need more information.

We use it with PDF's. We had a project that was a 30 page print with over 1600 bubbles. Paid for itself with one use as far as Im concerned. Very user friendly and easy to make edits. Would have taken me weeks to do it by hand. It basically won us a new client when we were the only company able to complete their FAI yet.
