surfacing with superior finish

im trying to get the most out of the mcam7 and sufacing. i find it hard to get good finishes. any help?

A few screen shots of your settings might help some of us guide you. What machine and material are you cutting?

Click on your "Total Tolerance" tab and slide the cut tolerance to the right side. Also I'd tick the box for Line /Arc filtering settings.

Use the smoothing settings too.

 

Try the high speed toolpaths all your toolpaths are the old school style.

Make sure your using the "new" algorithims that generates better finishes.

 

I don't know what kind of machine your running this on but I would not filter at all if I was milling this size feature on our machines. Crank the total tolerance down to .00005" and let it just run all the small line moves if your machine can keep up with the data.

 

I copied your "legacy" tool path and changed the tolerance settings closer to where I would run. I also threw in a "new style" path. I would keep refining the motion if I was trying to run an actual part and get the kind of surface finish your seeking, but this will give you an idea of where to head with it.
