is anyone using this on a regular basis with good results? we have x6 mill level 3 and we are pushing for the upgrade to solids.does the FBM come with solids or is it extra?ive been looking at some of the posts here about it but havent found out too much info on it. i guess it just looks at 2d geometry and will not recognize surfaces? what about chamfers?

This has been discused quite a few times, with about the same conclusion.... Not many folks using it.

 

It has its place here and there, search the forum and you'll find your answer.

I don't know of anyone who pushes the FBM Mill button and posts out code, but instead will let it create toolpaths, some of which will be modified and used to output code others will simply be deleted. But it can create some geometry/toolpaths very quickly that would take a lot of time to create manually.

 

 

The biggest thing is to use it enough, and be familiar with it enough to recognize when it can be useful.

 

FBM Drill is quite useful.

FBM is part of the Mastercam, you get it at Mill 1

 

It should read a solid and work, you cannot however without a solids license do anything to modify or move the solid

 

Without a solids license, you can read a solid into Mastercam

i did not know that i could read a solid into our x6 mill level 3 without solids??? let me give it a try.

im pretty sure it keeps telling me that solids is unlicenced.
