Okuma Genos problem

  Hi all.

I would like to explaine our problem .

 We have Okuma Genos 560  VMC.  This is grate machine  but in my opinion has the stupid design  mistake or wrong decision .

 

Front  Telescopic cover on ” Y” axis   design   in way  that  lowest  section  attached  to the table and  highest  section  to  the  front   wall of the machine .

As result   I suppose  to  “ fight”  with  the chips  to prevent damage of the cover    and   after year of use  steel  blades  has  significant   wearing  .

I know  ,this  type of machine using  by many shops  because  it is grate machine . What you guys doing to prevent wearing of blades and damage of covers?

I have the same machine, and sometimes the chips do get stuck in between the telescopic ways.

No damage yet, and we've had it since December. 

I've noticed that it's usually long-thin chips that wedge themselves in there.

If I see any.. I just pull them out.

Are you running high pressure through coolant, If so Okuma or aftermarket? If not Okuma then there should be an extra unused pump. I would just tie that pump into the chip auger signal and plumb a line to flush chips from the covers.
