10 start thread

I am looking for some help with a multiple start thread issue

 

the thread is a 1.0 lead ( 10 tpi ) 10 start .

 

i just can seem to get the threads to fit

does any one see anything wrong with this code ?

You might be having an acceleration/deceleration issue. 1" IPR is moving pretty fast and if the turret isn't up to speed by the time it starts cutting, you're going to get some major variance in helix angle. Are you threading up to a shoulder? If not, I would change my end point to be past the part.

That would be my first guess as well. If you have the torque, maybe try 150rpm and see if there is an improvement?

are you sure your encoder is capable of reading that thread pitch at that feed rate ??

 

 

years back I worked on a Haas TL3 and the encoder was limited to reading 100 inches per minute , so one had to watch the feed rate and rpm to not exceed the capabilities of the encoder .

 

This is a good point. 1.0 per rev is quite a bit. Maybe cut your feed and W moves in half and see if it still runs into each other.
