Replacement Turrets

Gents,

We have an old Mori SL25MC/500 and the live tooling drivetrain is all worn out. We got quoted over 18K to rebuild.

 

My question is: Does anyone retrofit turrets? Is it very expensive? Worth the time/energy?

Not much turns up on the google machine..... Would hate to scrap this machine. It's super solid.

If machine builders dont build their own turrets some use a company called "Duplomatic". I hear good things about them.

Lio-Shing build a huge amount of turrets for Taiwan machines.

Direct from Taiwan, they're not as much as you would think...

Not sure what Mori's use though?

All the Mori SL machines stuff was made by Mori in Mori factories. The reason it so so much is because they have changed the design a few times since then and it is not an off the shelf item.

I really really doubt that Mori is going to rebuild your turret for only 18k. That sounds too cheap.

 

Unless by rebuilding you mean just supplying a new angle drive, I'd believe that. But I can't see them replacing the turret, curvic, angle drive and other bits for anywhere near 18k. If that is all it is, and the rest of the machine will last a while and you make money on it, I'd spend the money and drive on.
