posting y for gang tooling

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Im using the MPLmaster post and making some small tweaks (m codes and whatnot). I was wondering if there is a way to get it to output Y.  For example i have a few tooling blocks that are offset in Y. As of now i just hand code in the Y0 in the first positioning line not a big deal. Was just curious if theres a way to get the post to do it for me

Yes you would need to use a mi or mr. Might could do some things with turret positions to get it automatically. Use certain numbers for normal positions and then use other grouped for the next place on the gang block. Then have the post look to the turret or tool number and then post code that way,

I've tried Y output a number of ways, for a Multus B400W. Originally, I used a MR number, but as is always way with MI/MR's, I forgot to set it. This was for a Sandvik Coromant Twin Tool (CNMG/DNMG style)

Since the Multus has a magazine, and the tools are fixed, I just added a function so that if a certain tool was called, it would flag a Y output. Basically a mini tool table inside the post. Worked a charm, and there were no more instances of forgotten settings.

Obviously, it was suitable in this case (due to a magazine with fixed tool numbers), but that was on way of addressing.
