Anyone familiar with "tangent plane machining"?

I didnt think they were too outrageously priced? $115 for a 6mm and just under $200 for 12mm

I doubt any custom place will make them for close to that pricing in only 1-2 pcs

 

 

I was quoted $215 for the 12mm oval shaped one by MSC.

 

I talked to both OSG and Frasia about them. They have both made them as customs for people. Frasia has no plans to make them a stock item. OSG rep said they might.

 

 

I don't know - repeat - I don't know, but those taper/tangent plane tools would need to be ground VERY repeatably or you'll surely have lines on your step downs (talking next time you setup or)?

Or I'm missing sumfing...

 

Emuge claims to hold the flute profile to .010mm.

I think they would be ground with the same repeatably as a ball mill right? I would think the "ball" on ball mills are cnc ground instead of on a rotating axis like old school bm grinders.
