U-DRILL TOOL DEFINITION

Has anyone figured out how to define a u-drill to drill and bore without having to define a drill and boring bar separately.  I need to be able to accomplish this so that my machine simulation is accurate with the correct tools loaded on the turret.  

Any ideas?

Far as I know currently not possible. Yes hate having to define it as 2 tools, but I know it is in the works.

it's pretty easy  to get the job done with one tool and one operation

Sometimes you have to lie to mastercam

define the half of your drill as a left hand face groove  ( a 1in drill will be a 1/2 wide face groove )

then draw only the upper half of the drilled hole 

after this you can use a groove cycle or a canned groove cycle, simply select a positive cut direction, if everything is set correctly the first pass should be at X0

I have done this with a point toolpath also.

I mathematically figure out the centerline position. Use that in X position on the drill cycle. So a drill cycle operation for each boring pass.
