Mastercam 2018 Parasolid error

Hello everyone!

Parasolid(R) Kernel Interface Error:
PK Error Code: 9999 -
invalid_object

Anyone else seen this yet? Seems to set in when doing something with verify, causes the model to disappear visually but toolpaths still have all their driving geometry. Occasionally pretty blue triangles show up, doesn't seem to be based off anything from the model. Last time this happened I just reimported the model and went through 171 friggen operations and reselected all the geometry for each one. About to call my VAR as soon as they open up.

Are there any tricks for rebuilding all my geometry other than reselecting all my geometry?

Thanks in advance!

Usually .sldprt files come through OK and there are no problems. Try analyzing the solid and see if MC picks up a problem there. Did it come in with the solids tree or as a "dumb" body? You can check this on your "Solids Manager".

The most bullet proof solid file transfer method I have come across is using parasolid.X_T files. Have you got SW where you are? If so you could try opening the original file in SW and then save it as a .X_T file and import (merge) that into your MC file.

Also make sure you have the correct settings in Verify. Display part etc.... Do you have a stock model?

It was an imported .sldprt file to start with, nothing more than text lines added in mastercam for engraving geometry.

Is there any solid in the file or only curves representing text lines?

If only text lines in the sldprt I'm not sure if MC can open only curves...

I'm not sure how to analyze a solid, I'm 100% self trained mostly on mcam for sw, but if I go to the solids tab and right click the one solid and "check solid" I get zero errors. If I try and regen the solid, nothing happens. I can dirty and regen all toolpaths just fine, geometry is not gone as it can be with deleting driving sketches or whatever within MCam SW...

In the solids tree I have one solid body (M15707-1) and under that I have a tree of all my operations, Facing, contour, G81 etc...

I'm pretty familiar with the settings inside the verify window, as far as I can tell the stock model is correct, the part model is correct. I use the transparent stock and solid model to verify I'm doing right pretty often. I seem to recall a drill collision, so then I closed the verify window so I could increase drill length. Once back to the mastercam window nonstop parasolid errors...

Sorry to be confusing, the engraving is solid modeled in my part. To make a toolpath on centerline I sketch (wireframe "create letters" sorry, I'm better with SW) text lines and roughly transform it over the solid model text. This is the only modification to the file done in the live window other than setting zeros and selecting geometry for toolpaths.

Thank you both for the help!

OK seems like you are doing things in an acceptable way. I don't run MC in SW so am unfamiliar with any "foibles" of that set up (I run them as separate programs).

However the verify crash followed by problems is a little suspicious. Try making a copy of the file and turn it into a dumb body in MC using the model prep tab (remove solid history). Or you could make a "dumb body" in a separate file and then merge it into you existing file and try using that as your part model.

There are a few people on the forum who run MC in SW so maybe they could help here.....
