DXF or SAT

[CNCme]

Good Day,

 

I recieved some dxf files...couldn't

open with file converters.

It gives error "operation unsucessful"...

then 2nd error, "erase intermediate SAT file"

yes or no answer required...either answer

fails to produce sucessful conversion.

 

Is it possible they tried to save a

3D model in a dxf(which will not support

3D.)

Tony can you send me one of the files.

there are some solid model suppoert in DXF. this why it is trying to go thru the Sat converter.

I sent you one...It does open a dialog box

for solids (I have solids module )

then asks to erase sat...then nothing...?

I was totally guessing

I've had DXF & DWG bring in Solids. If the file came from Mechanical Desktop, they do sometimes create an itermediate SAT file. Tell it NOT to delete the files and then try doing an SAT - Read. There should be some new files in the Mcam9Data folder.

I sent you back a MC9 file.

I masked the Solid that was not coming it and was able to get all the wire in.

And no message saying unsuccsecful.

I didnt get the full wire in the mc9, alot of

junk...much missing.

Yes there is info mising for sure.

I am going back after what mike said to try.

Good thought mike but the solid seems to be corrept or missing info.

I can get the rest by bring it in and masking the solid 3d , then I check and there is info on the levels but no entitis on the screen.

 

So then I went and unblanked the info.

Just get what i have.

I also had created SAT files, but did not

open...is this a bug from inventor converted

We had similar problems. Check this thread for more info. We've not resolved anything since the last post on it.

I have fixed the problem, (not quite )

But I am able to open these DXF's

 

Support or Qc will not like this one.

I have always kept 2 "rolled back"

or non upgraded versions in Mastercam. From a fresh install 9.1 SP2 cd, with no updates, they can be opened

 

I think these files were created with an older

Ver. of ACAD.
