  2. Easy to do. I do it everyday. From Operations Manager, go to "Post selected operations", check "Output MCX file descriptor", click on the "Properties..." button, enter your descriptor, then click the green check mark. Now, just exit without posting. It WILL save the descriptor as you entered it.
  3. We run a LOT of 304VAR & 316L with Seco CNMG,DNMG,VNMG TP3000, 540 - 560sfm, .010"IPR., light DOC @.06" radial or less.
  4. Go to Lathe Toolpath, Thread, Thread shape parmeters, Pick from table, select 1/2-14, use Draw Thread. Then, draw a line from small end of major dia. to large end of major dia. Trim your .840" line to that line. Maybe draw a chamfer at that start as well. Just using the tools that Mastercam provides!
  5. How about 1 of these? Get a round shank face-grooving tool & mount it in a boring head. I've done this with tools from all 3 of these sources. http://www.hornusa.com/eng/products/non_ro...ce_grooving.htm http://www.micro100.com/ http://www.iscar.com/ProductLines/PDF/Basi...ousTools_40.pdf
  6. Ditto to "but does have some weird cutter comp rules." I know this has been covered before some time back. Do a search on "dynapath"...
  7. You're welcome. I've received a lot of help from this forum. Glad I could give a little back.
  8. Carrying this 1 step further, change your code to the example below. "Original Code" N5 G50 X20. Z20. N10 T0101 N15 G97 S1279 M03 M41 N20 G0 X0. Z.1 M08 N25 Z-2.15 N30 G74 X0. Z-3.25 D.05 L.1 E.13 F.003 N35 G0 Z.1 N40 M09 N45 G0 X20. Z20. N50 M05 N55 M02 "New Code" N5 G50 X20. Z20. N10 T0101 N15 G97 S1279 M03 M41 N20 G0 X0. Z.1 M08 (N25 Z-2.15)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Delete this line N30 G74X0.Z-3.25D.05L.1K2.25DA=.01E.13F.003(Edit as shown) N35 G0 Z.1 N40 M09 N45 G0 X20. Z20. N50 M05 N55 M02 This will start at Z.1, shift in to Z-2.15, peck .05, retract .01, peck another .05, then retract to Z.1, rapid back in within .01 of the previous depth, & then repeat until Z-3.25 is reached. Then dwells for .13 second (?) & retracts to Z.1 & goes home.
  9. Here is a generic format I use for Okuma lathe. I think it will do exactly what you want. N__(_/_" DRILL X/Z=0 P=0) G97 S___ T___ M3M8M42 P__ G0 X0 Z_._ G74 X0 Z_._ D._ L._ DA=.01 K0 E.1 F.00_ G0 Z_._ X20. Z20. M1 [*> THE FOLLOWING ARE OMISSABLE: L._ DA=.01 K0 E.1 <*] [*> "L" RETRACT,"DA=" RETURN,"K" SHIFT,"E" DWELL <*]
  10. Start here & follow it thru the various threads: http://www.emastercam.com/ubb/ultimatebb.p...t=007748#000000 Is this maybe what you're looking for?
  11. I agree. Use "Create_Curve_Create Curve Slice..." from the pulldown. I use this a lot, so I put the icon for it on my "Sketcher" toolbar. Also be sure to have your Level set to one other than the one your solid model is on. That way, you can turn off the layer where your solid is, & have just the layer with your newly created geometry.
  12. Ron, FOTCL! Maybe having AutoSave "Prompt before saving file" enabled would be useful on large files. At least you could say No. I just recently started using backup. I have not needed it yet, but it sounds like a good idea. Thanks again for the responses!
  13. Thank You for the responses! I have now turned OFF "Prompt before saving file". (I usually had set AutoSave at a 60 minute interval, so it wasn't that big of a deal to answer the prompt. It was just annoying when it started to also bring up Mastercam with it after the X2MR2 update.) Sometimes a fresh perspective is needed. I will now begin to accept the "Auto" part of AutoSave.
  14. I use AutoSave & I've noticed a minor annoyance with it since upgrading to X2 MR2 (lathe, mill3, solids). Whenever the AutoSave screen pops up & I have Mastercam minimized, it brings up Mastercam as well in a reduced size screen. (If I have Mastercam maximized & the AutoSave screen comes up, Mastercam stays maximized, which is OK.) In previous versions, only the AutoSave screen would pop up when I had Mastercam minimized. Has anyone else experienced this & if so, how can I change it so that only the AutoSave screen pops up?
