the part i just finished was one of those 10k$ parts 2:56 cut tap thru .350 deep in copper 26 holes. peck tap did the trick. thanks james.

how hard is your material? RC? if it's in the annel
condition it might give a poor finish.

how about a drawing with a 4x exploded view and this has the dims. at 4x bigger than actual. then this designer tells me you know what i thinken. so i bring his 1.0 x 1.0 x 6.0 bar with 2.0 dia. hole thru the side. [2peices now] don't you know that hole is only 0.5 dia. i said no i just made it to print now sign it off!!!!!

+ 1000 to what james asked. also if a tool is running out a thou. the holder is prob. out of balance too. so if your rpm changes so will your comp.

i have a part to make from c10100 oxygen free copper with 0.0005 electroless nickel plate.
2:56 unc 2B thru 16x. material is 0.350 thick.
cut or roll tap???
drill size???
oversize tap for plate???
tap depth is 4 diameters. peck tap???
feed and speed???

Mastercam Showcasing Major New Developments at Eastec 2009
Eastec 2009 features the unveiling of two major developments in CNC Software’s Mastercam CAD/CAM software. Attendees will get the first look at Mastercam’s latest CAD/CAM software, Mastercam X4, as well as the new Mastercam® for SolidWorks product. Both will be showcased in booth 5245 at the Big E Fairgrounds, West Springfield, MA, on May 19-21.
Mastercam X4
Due out in second quarter of 2009, Mastercam X4 brings users a suite of new toolpaths, Multi-threading ability, and much more.
Dynamic Machining – This new machining technique gives you the ability to utilize the entire flute length of the cutting tool, saving both time and money. Dynamic machining offers flexible retract options to keep the tool down in smaller parts, and rapid retract on larger parts.
Multi-threading – Mastercam Mill delivers multi-threading support, dividing complex tasks in a multi-core computer, and delivering faster processing and other benefits. Users have the option to turn this on or off. When used in a single-core environment, Multi-threading allows users to multi-task, prioritize running and pending tasks, and monitor the progress of toolpath calculation, which increases productivity.
Other X4 features include:
- 3D toolpath refiner for better finish
- Feature Based Machining Drill enhancements
- Feature Based Machining Mill enhancements
- Tree-style dialog boxes for 2D toolpaths
- Circle 5-axis toolpath

Mastercam for SolidWorks
Mastercam for SolidWorks is fully integrated CAM that runs in SolidWorks. SolidWorks users can now program their parts directly within SolidWorks using Mastercam’s toolpaths and machining strategies.
Mastercam for SolidWorks includes a suite of cutting strategies, including Feature Based Machining FBM and 3D High Speed Machining HSM toolpaths. HSM promotes longer tool life, faster machining time, and precision cutting by creating smooth cuts that eliminate dangerous sharp moves. Mastercam for SolidWorks also delivers a set of automated cleanup toolpaths, letting users get parts off the machine faster and with little or no handwork.

i have a 1/16 cvd diamond in the machine running at 35000 rpm it's been in the machine running aluminum (mic6,6061, and 7075) i figure its run about 7 miles in 6 months and still cutting and holding +/-0.0001!

use harvey tools crystalline cvd diamond endmills on those composites. a little pricey$ but those tools are my best friend.

i have used voice software sense mc3.2. still working on mx3. i use Dragon natural speaking now. i tried all of them. i will let you know how it work's out.

I am running a load of parts right now 40 parts G15H1 > G15H40. G30P1 is the tool change position.
that would drive me crazy if it did that every time it changed work offsets. my past moves to the
clearance height and moves or rotates to the next fixture offset. my guess its in the post.

i have used molecular drag pumps that will go to 1 x 10> -12 millitorr like deep space vacuum and not any measurable difference. you would do more if you blow on top of the part with an air gun or pressurized your shop or moved some place below sea level.

24 X 48 now that really sucks i think about 16000 lbs. worth. now that will hold it!!!!!!!

the machines that make cnc routers are metal cutting machines mills, lathes, grinders! did i say grinders? way to much precision.

i cut metal parts on a boss3 bridgeport under vacuum! i am sure that was way before you wood people had cnc routers. so who's trying to be like who?

I'd still pin it to keep it from being pushed when you drill. the vacuum venturies i use are mounted to the plate and always on. remember when you have a vacuum any coolant in the area under vacuum will boil ie out gas even at room temp and there goes the vacuum. not good!

i use air venturi vacuum generators for my vacuum fixture plates. they create about 22>25 in of mercury at sea level. i use as many as i can just in case i loose a part i don't loose the whole table. i get the generators from reed supply.
they are cheep and coolant won't weck them.
