  1. I feel like mastercam should have a lesson about programming a part using a tooling ball as the part origin. Its a common way to set x,y,z zeros when doing multiaxis machining so it would only make sense that they create some tutorials covering this.
  2. I'm trying to 3d mill a scallop on this part and instead of cutting within the part it's not even cutting where it's supposed to at all but instead just doing its own thing nothing at all like what I programmed it to do. I included a file so you can see what I am saying. tutorial 4 with toolpaths 3D MILLING.emcam
  3. I'm doing a mastercam tutorial and the toolpath I created Isn't generating for some reason it's not giving any error messages either so I don't understand why it won't create the tool motion. I added the file so you can see what I am saying. TUTORIAL 4 ROTARY ADVANCED with toolpaths.ZIP
  4. I added a retract option in collision control and it stopped cutting through the walls so you were right, thanks.
  5. I'm following a multiaxis tutorial book and I've come to a point where this toolpath instead of staying within the boundaries or retracting to the clearance area its cutting through the wall. The toolpath I am referring to is number 6. TUTORIAL 2 SWARF with toolpaths.ZIP
  6. Mastercam keeps freezing anytime I try to create a dynamic plane for what seems like no reason has anyone else had this problem?
  7. This confuses me I plan to take a solidworks course on caminstructor so I hope there is a lesson on creating a coordinate system on solidworks otherwise I am just going to draw in the front plane for it to translate to the top plane on mastercam
  8. Yes I figured this out last night you confirmed what I thought.
  9. I created a part on solid works in the top plane. I imported it into mastercam and the top view on solidworks translates to the back plane/view on mastercam? Will I have to make my drawings in back view on solid works for them to come out with the right orientation on mastercam? I included the solid works drawing so you can see what I am saying. lesson 2.SLDPRT
  10. I actually found another site that is a partner of mastercam called caminstructor that has online lessons you can sign up for and tutorial books just like the mastercam tutorial books.
  11. Im trying to create a tool path to cut some letters for a multi-axis tutorial and instead of cutting from the top its cutting underneath the part. I have the wcs plane set to top but even though it is the part is being cut from the bottom I included the file of the part im working on. TUTORIAL 5 with toolpaths.emcam
  12. Makes sense thanks for that information.
  13. Is it necessary to backplot your toolpaths if you use verify and simulate the cutting operations?
  14. I have a question, if there is a -1 in the Z on the stock origin does that mean every tool offset is going to touched to a point -1 below the top of the part?
  15. I must've missed where it said to go into the surfaces tabs makes sense why it wasn't working now, I appreciate the help.
  16. I'm having a hard time with Advanced mill tutorial 4, to be more specific page 311 when it asks you to trim to curves. It tells you to pick one of the surfaces on the revolved section of the part but instead highlighting the one section of the surface I need to create an operation on it highlights the entire part.
  17. Ok I see now, thats kind of how I figured it would work.
  18. I have a certificate and almost 3 years of experience machining. One of the classes I took was mastercam we really only learned the basics they taught us from the mill and lathe essentials book, I've just been furthering my knowledge and trying to advance my skills. My goal is to become certified in 2d mill programming 3d mill programming and multiaxis programming
  19. By work with my mastercam reseller to get some training do you mean take classes for mastercam?
  20. So for example the part is in quadrant 4 (the bottom right corner) like in picture 2, so the upper left corner of the stock is the x0,y0 on the machine?
  21. According to the stock origin in both images the x0 and y0 is the center of the part correct? Also for the 2nd picture with stock origin x1.5,y-1.5 if I was to change it to x0,y0 would it change the x0,y0 from the center of the part to the top left corner?
  22. When setting up a part on a machine you would use the points on your stock origin like if you created a square and anchored it to center your x0 and y0 therefore would be the center of the part correct? Also would the same apply if you off center it -1.5" in the x and y then have a stock origin that says X: -1.5 Y-1.5 z0 making the center of the part again the and x and y 0? If I need to clarify I could make 2 files showing you what I mean.
  23. Something I just learned is how to create a plane that you can machine on which I did and now I can program with absolute on the front plane. practice part 1 #2 with tool paths.emcam
