  1. Thanks to all of you. By the way, it is usually the CMM that gives us dimensions that one does not like.
  2. Hello all. We have a Ziess CMM. The probes are calibrated every morning, thus the device is unavailable for a good hour of production time. There is some disagreement as to whether daily calibration is necessary. What do you folks do? Calibrate daily or... MCAM X6 MU1 Solids,Port Expert, Multi Axis, etc., etc.
  3. WOW! Ok I have a fair amount of work to do going thru all this. I will print it all out and will digest it as best I can. Unfortunately I am not versed in the language the posts are written. I am comfortable doing only minor changes.
  4. Yes it should be. I am trying to make this as easy as possible for the programmers. Here, most of our people do their own programming. Unfortunately not all of them are sophisticated Mcam programmers. Thus the making it easy part. I was hoping that I could mod canned text so that a simple selection and placement could be made.
  5. Hello all: I am trying to mod MPFAN post to output three digit M codes in canned text. This would allow us to use the post on our MAZAK Horizontals. When I add the M codes to canned text and select them for output at posting I get a 2 digit output only. I have tried reformating the output variable with no success. Any suggestions? Mcam X5, solids, multiaxis, port expert, etc.
  6. Thanks all I found that I had defined a multi flute thread mill as a single, once defined with the number of active teeth, I got the faster cycle I was looking for. With that cycle I used the helical entry/exit and got a good transition between passes.
  7. I am thread milling an M100 x2 thread in cast aluminum using a Carmex indexable milling cutter, bottom to top. I was hoping to take advantage of the inserts length and pull away from the cut as soon as the top of insert passed the thread top plus one revolution. Using Mcam thread milling, the tool will enter the cut perpendicular, helix up to the defined top of stock then adds a flat circular interpolation move to pull from the cut at 180 degrees from cut entry. In doing so the cutter then damages all the threads still engaged by the cutter. I had to take the extra time to continue the cut until the inserts cleared the last thread. I have done a test and find the flat circular interpolation move is added top to bottom as well. Has anyone else had this problem? Mcam X5,etc.
  8. Thanks Chris,I will do the search. However I was hoping for someone who has not just put one on the floor but who has been up and running for some time.
  9. Hello All we are considering replacing our aging integrex with a new and improved 5x head model. I was hoping that someone who has worked with one of these machines could respond with contact information so we could talk about the machine and it's capabilities and limitations under Mastercam. We are looking to do 5 axis like work on this machine if possible. Mcam x4, 5axis,solids,lathe,etc.
  10. Thanks, I have gone thru the control defs first off. I did not try spiral and will.
  11. I was working with a flowline toolpath this morning on a circular arced feature. I wanted one way cutting and could not get MC to ouput full arcs. No matter what I did with filtering I could only achieve a broken tool path. In desperation I recreated the solid surfaces thinking that My orginal solid was less than perfect. That did not work either. When I changed to zigzag full arcs were output. Anybody else have a similar problem? X3 MU1 Solids/Lathe
  12. T get G61.1 to work properly you will have to change a number of perameters. What there values are is not defined by Mazak but rather your particular application. In you parameters book look to F1, F2, L74, L75, L76, +. We have had similar problems with our 510CIIs, 5000 anad 4800s. Agree with reseller contact recommendation. Wish I could have been of more help.
  13. After further review.. The info I gave you is for older posts. If you are using one rev 11. your stting will be rot_dir
  14. Go into your machine definition, A-axis properties, setup for your device. In your post, if standard generic mod, go to Rotary settings and change rot_ccw_pos according to in-post notes. Save changes.
  15. Due to the problems I have experiences with threading I have come to use contour ramp. By setting the ramp as distance, thread pitch, and the availabilty of unlimited lead-in lead-out adjustments I can do just about any thread. I have been doing top down threads and have never tried bottom up. I don't see why it would not work.
