Has anyone tried to open 2 MC windows at the same time? I get a message that says there might be a problem.
Thanks

JParis, thanks for that answer. I also need to setup defaults for drilling, milling, etc.
Any more ideas?

We have loaded the new mcx6 and are trying to get a few things right. Ever time I send a program, you have to reconfig the communications. It changes back. Also how do I get rid of line numbers?
Thanks

How can I open the editor so I can send a saved program to a machine?

+1 bucktruck
Cimco edit is a great editor and easy to configure your machines on, you have to know the bits, stop bit, parity, speed, and I forget what else; in order for it to work. It should be fairly simple !

We had a program called Machine Link that we used to send programs to the Hass's after we saved them to the computer. We got a new computer and can't
find the disk that had the Machine Link program. Is there another way to send existing programs to the Haas? Can we just use the Mastercam program?
And if so, how?
Thanks

I believe you can buy it either way. My guess is belt drive is cheaper.

I wonder if anyone is using a new Haas (VF2SSYT). It is belt driven and does not have the torque to cut at low speeds. I tried a 4 inch saw cutter, 1/8 thick, 100 rpm, 1.0 feed rate, small cuts and the cutter would actually stop as it was cutting. I also have had to replace drive belts twice in 2 years because apparently the coolant is sucked thru the gear box with the fan on the top of the machine, and over time, breaks down the belt and it has to be replaced. Anyone have this problem?

I feel that since they have included keys to lock out the operator, they could have made a sort of parental control so you could lock out newbies so they can't hurt themselves, and still test run the first part with the door open if needed.

I've already got a couple of those James. Fortunately they are not the type of machine that ever gets moved around, so the multi-thousand dollar rigging bill is always going to be a much bigger issue than the location tracker. Overly restrictive interlocks on the other hand, rear their ugly head EVERY day.
I'm actually perfectly fine with not being able to cut with the doors open. What drives me nuts is having to switch to manual mode, turn a key, and then hit a door unlock button just to peek in the machine.
Leave the key on setup, at least on the Haas, motion stops, and I run the machine at 25%. Actually, at 25% I will get in less trouble with crashes. You can catch it better if not running at 500 IPM.

I have an idea, but is illegal
...and that would be.....

The interlock situation with MTBs is completely out of hand. If you lock the machine down so tight that a person can't perform their job, they eventually just COMPLETELY disable the interlocks, rather than work with them. This creates a far more dangerous situation.
I actually plan on disabling the machine door override after the warranty runs out. I have the approval of the shop supervisor so its not going to be a problem.

Thanks Doug. I kinda thought it was an OSHA thing. Seems like they are again using the CYA for Haas so if some newbie gets hurt, they are not liable. Just makes it very difficult for the experienced person to get the job done.

We bought a new Haas (VF2 SSYT) and received it 2 weeks ago. I have been running Haas's for 20 years and now they decide that you can't run the machine with the doors open. I do this often to prove out a program before running (which I'm sure all of you do). The only way to do this is to hold down the green button when the doors are open, which makes for an inconvenient way to do this. The service guy told me there was no way to override this any more. (parameter 51 was door override in the past). Haas anyone had this problem and how did you bypass this?

Thanks guys. Im still learning.

Where would I find the view manager?

I just found out you can set different origins on the same print. I did this recently for the first time. Then when I posted my program, I had several different WCS come out in the program. G54 55 and 56. I want to know how to change between WCS's and not have 3 different WCS's come out in the program.
Thanks

Tool paths from solids
in Industrial Forum
Posted
We only purchased the latest version on MCX with 6 so we could open current versions of solid works. I also understand you can tool path from solids. I tried to open a file and it would only open the solid part file, and not able to tool path from that unless there is more I need to know.
Any info would be helpful.
Thanks
