  1. Seems like the USA / Canada rivalry is something akin to what we have with New Zealand here in Australia. New Zealand, in whatever sport, seems to really lift for a match against its larger rival. Correct?
  2. Anyone know what this is? And does mastercam communication have it?
  3. Yes it drops characters every once in a while only, some of my programs might have 1 million plus lines, but I only have this problem occasionaly. Thanks for the tips.
  4. My cable is just plain old 4 core data cable. And I have now realized it does run along side some electrical cabling. The machine is only a few meters away but the cabling runs up the wall and along a rafter, approx 20-25 mtrs (60 feet). (hmm doesnt sound good now I think about it) My baud rate is 38400, I thought this was necesary for HSM. I have parity set to even. Perhaps cabling with better insulation/shielding will help? 5. Hi all, I use mastercams built in communications funtion to dnc link my HAAS verticals with High speed machining. Recently I have a had a few mishaps, ie gouges that weren't present in verifying, and the mysterious thing is I can run the programs through again and they do not gouge Is it possible the dnc link is failing to send over the program error free every time? The pc sending is fast. Any thoughts appreciated.
  6. If they are graphics intensive games that require 3D acceleration , the latest crop require at the very least 16meg memory, but go for at least 32 meg and a geforce 2 chip, these are fairly cheap now (probly 50-60 US $) and more than adequate unless your a real games freak I have a duron 800 at home and it seems fine for most things, including cam, and nice and cheap
  7. Yes, I think I need to see the boss about an upgrade, surely a lathe upgrade shouldn't be to expensive. For the moment I'll use several passes of finish cuts to satisfy my casting stock removal needs, like was suggested. Thnaks to all of you for your help, its greatly appreciated, this forum really is a great resourse, I've been using mastercam now for a year or more but unfortunately only just found this.
  8. Im sorry, I should have mentioned im using V7.2c Lathe. Not sure what you mean by lead in /out, is that entry exit vectors? Id like to put the file up on the ftp site but the proxy server here where I work won't allow it Thankyou all for the excellent replies [ 01-08-2002: Message edited by: Toolio Iglacius ]
  9. Thnaks for the response Trevor, I tried that, it says tool collision with stock, then asks if I wish to continue. If I continue I just get the rectangular stock cutting air as usual.
  10. Hi, Can someone help me out with a method to rough turn a casting profile with mastercam, the only way I can do it now is to rough out a whole cyclindrical shape containing the casting, which cuts lots of air. Im sure its simple but I just can't get it to work, thanks in advance.
