  1. Is there a way to change the color of stock in Verify mode when using a solid as stock, My stock is always white, while another computers is grey. I have tried changing the stock color in the "set colors" tab with no change. It will only change the colors of box round or .stl stock. Thanks Rich
  2. The problem I see is exactly as Mark B has stated how do some of you deal with the multiple tools in the file? I always get the error "TOOL NUMBER ALREADY USED 4 #4 1/4 BALL" when adding another tool in a different set of ops. I also see that sometimes when going back and adding an op in an existing group of ops The tool library in the operations list the proper tool used in that set of op, but when you go to the tool manager you better make sure to select the proper machine from the little tab in the upper left hand corner if you want to add tools to that particular set of operations,(it seems that they are in alphabetical order and it will default to the first machine)I found myself adding tools to a different set of ops, I've tried clicking on the machine fist then adding a new operation, but it still defaults to the tools of the machine first in alphabetical order. Anyone know a way around that, where it could always default to the library of tool of that machine def. Chipman [ 09-14-2007, 11:44 AM: Message edited by: chipman ]
  3. I have tried this and noticed that when having a tool# 1 in one machine group and then adding a tool#1 to the second machine group it warns me that there already is a tool# 1, but in fact there is not a tool# 1 in the second machine. Chipman
  4. For years I have have always made one MCX file for each Tool Plane, but am considering trying to keep all operations in one file. I am just curious how some of you organize your toolpaths within your file, more specifically working with many Tool Planes (i.e. all six sides of a block)each Tool Planes having its own set of operations and not having conflicting tool numbers, tool libraries, conflicting stock sizes for verify, posting problems etc. Is there a way to lock the tool plane, stock sizes, tools for each toolpath group? Thanks Chipman
  5. Colin, I am assuming that you have a Nvidia Quadro card, If so what version driver are you running? Rich
  6. John, Like i said I am using the 9.1.3.6 driver. Earlier I tried to turn the "Unified/Back Depth Buffer" to "Off' but it won't change. I changed my "active Profile" to Solidworks and stll can not turn the "Unified/Back Depth Buffer" off. Do you recommend that I upgrade my driver? Rich
  7. John, I checked my config and the "Disable Front Buffer" is checked. The driver my Quadro is using is 9.1.3.6 I chose this driver after reading a few posts on Emastercam. Before changing anything else should I update my driver, and if so what should I have the "active profile" set at under the application profile in the Quadro Tab Thanks Rich
  8. I have the following: Windows XP professional SP2 Intel dual core @2.13 ghz 2gb RAM Nvidia Quadro FX 1500 Rich
  9. I have had mastercam crash on me a several times per day just by clicking the parameters icon in the toolpath manager. Is there something wrong with my setup? Does anyone know how to avoid it? I find myself clicking save after any change. I just uninstalled Mcam completely and reinstalled the latest (Mcam MR1 SP1) and it still does this. Also why when I click on the parameter icon just to check the a few things and not change anything, when I exit out of the page it is marked dirty. I there something that I am doing wrong. Thanks Rich
  10. The transform toolpath is a real nice feature in MCx2. But the toolpaths I usually need to tranform are not spaced equally. Does anyone have any tips or ticks on programming one piece and then somehow being able to specify point or locations as to where it is to cut the rest of them! Also maintaining operation order (minimizing toolchanges) Thanks, Chipman
  11. I am taking the plunge and buying the 3Dconnexion Space Explorer and am wondering what some of you preset your available button for. Say like some maybe "end selection" or "fit screen". I would like to have a general idea before I start using this weapon the wrong way! any input would be appreciated! Thanks The Chipman!
  12. I use an editor called UltraEdit. It's designed for software programmers. I have created several macro's in it without even looking at the online help. In fact, I wrote a macro to change the code output from the generic Fanuc post to run on our machines instead of paying for a custom post. I also use it with a text based CAM system called Genesis which is about 30 years old so for text I highly recommend it. It's only about $40 too and they give you a free trial version to check out. I bought the ultraedit/ultracompare bundle for $60. go to http://www.ultraedit.com
