  1. Good morning all, I have been charged with the task of creating a best prctices-standards manual for our CNC programming-machining departments. We have 2 facilities with multiple programmers working on different shifts. We want to get everybody "on the same page". Have any of you had experience with this before? If so, do you have any advice or lessons learned that you would like to share? Thanks,
  2. CGTech Tech support informed me that they were not notified by CNC software of any requirement changes for chooks in X2. They logged a request to their software programmers. The request has my contact info so they say I'll be the first to know when a resolution is determined, however they don't know how long that will be at this point. When I hear more I can post again.
  3. Has anyone recieved info on a chook for x2 to vericut? When I try the current chook it says it needs mastercam 10. We have current maintenance with CGTech, I have put a call in, But this forum is usually faster.
  4. Thanks for the help! I used a 5-axis swarf set to 4 axis. The window also has a chamfer on the outside. the 5 axis swarf worked for that as well. DS
  5. I am trying to improve the finish of an A-axis cut on a Haas vfoe. The cut is a window in a 3.5 OD - 3.125 ID Alum tube. I have a ProE solid that I unwrapped the geo and created a contour toolpath - then used the 4-axis wrap feature in matercam. the problem is when it posts it makes big A-axis moves leaving a stepped finish. I have tried several things to fix this including ; a filter in the contour toolpath, converting the arcs to splines-then break into .001 segments to force many small A moves. Is there a setting in the post that will help? Thanks in advance, DS Xmr2 Wildfire 2.0 Vericut 6.01 P4 2.8g Quadro FX 350
  6. Jim We have a 201js that we use for engraving aluminum fishing reel bodies. so far the tool has worked well for this application. We bolted a stop up to the face of the spindle to keep the tool from rotating. One word of caution: many machines when a canned drilling cycle is activated the spindle will start at the last programmed speed--learned this the hard way. It ripped the hose off of the air regulator and was whipping the hose around at 2000 rpm. DS
  7. The ability to select multiple solids for stock in verify. Stock, fixtures, clamps, etc
  8. Lloyd, We have three seats of x installed. after updating to MR1 two of the pc's are having the same problem with level manager.IT seems grphicscards are not compatable anymore. yes we have updated drivers and adjusted hardware acceleration, etc. The two pc's have the following cards:Nvidia Geforce 5600, and Nvidia quadro nvs. The pc that still works fine has intel extreme graphics. LOL. The problem I'm having is now I have to buy 2 new graphics cards. CNC Software does not do any testing, certifying, or decertifying of hardware that I am aware of. I decided to Call several Mastercam dealers and got some pretty good input from them. The general opinion is you can't go wrong with a Nvidia quadro Fx series card. They all seem to not reccommend ATI or 3Dlabs. They also question Nvidia GeForce cards. We have decided to go with the quadro fx 500, It is in the $200-300 dollar range. Without any support From CNC software we don't want to spend a fortune on cards only to have them be incompatable with the next software release. One dealer has some pretty good info on their site WWW.CIMQUEST-INC.com I hope this helps you, DS
