  1. Hello everyone, I can't seem to get my Operation Defaults working properly. When I create an operation, sometimes it starts out with my defaults, which is how I want it to work, but other times the values seem to carry over from the last used. I have our machines and controls all setup to use the Tool, Operations & Operation Defaults files I created but then I noticed this: When I edit any of the Machines and click on the Control edit icon; the paths and file names under the Files section are all correct...but when I click on Operation Defaults, then the + next to Files, the Operation Library area still shows "Mill_Inch.OPERATIONS"...not my "PHM Inch.OPERATIONS". Shouldn't this file match the Files section and be "PHM Inch.OPERATIONS"? Thanks, John
  2. WHERE'S CONWAY!?! I thought *everyone* knew where Conway was! Obviously kidding...check this program out... http://earth.google.com "Google Earth combines satellite imagery, maps and the power of Google Search to put the world's geographic information at your fingertips." Let's you zoom right in on anyone's location! John
  3. I'll be there on the 24th. John
  4. Thanks for the replies & help folks...got what I needed! John
  5. Hey All, Did a search and found a couple of posts that indicated older versions of Mastercam came with a generic post for this control. Could someone email me a copy? Thanks, John
  6. That explains it...I'm still on X SP1.003. I tried MR1 and found that ctrl-click no longer worked to select/deselect individual Ops in the Operations Manager. As I do this a lot, I decided to wait for the next update. I found this same problem with MR1 SP2 that I received from our dealer. Have you run into this ctrl-click issue, and if so how did you get around it? John
  7. Hey Marc, I got example #1 but I'm unsure how to try #2. When you say "Tool Path Editor", do you mean the "Chain Manager" under Geometry? When I right click an Op, I don't see any points listed, just the basic context menu. Thanks, John
  8. Right now, that's exactly what I'm doing, however: When using multiple Ops in a Transform that creates multiple copies, it does not do them in the best sequence. For example: An Op with 3 chains, 1 chain no comp, 2 chains with comp. Transforming this single Op would machine all 3 chains on each copy before moving to the next. Since I can't figure out how to properly apply the "Change at point", I create two Ops, one with a single no comp chain and one with two comp'd chains. My Transform then executes the one no comp Op on all copies, then starts over and executes the comp'd Op on all copies...wasted time & moves. Anybody??? Thanks, John
  9. Hey All, Looked in the manual & help, did a search but couldn't find an answer... Is it possible to change comp from off to on between chains on an Op in the Chain Manager? Right click brings up a context menu that has "Change at point..." with Cutter Comp at the top. It appears that I should be able to turn it on/off here but I can't get it to work. I also noticed that this "Change at point" seems to differ from the "Drill change at point"...is this correct? Thanks, John
  10. That's exactly what I've been doing...even though it takes a lot longer. Maybe someday Mastercam will fix this so that we have an *OPTION* for straight line or "auto-angle". John
  11. Hey All, When using the Point dimensioning tool, the leader line will not draw a straight line from the point I pick to the location I place the dimension...how do I make the leader line stop "auto-angling" all over the place? Thanks, John
  12. I like both ideas too but the word wrap would be my first choice. John
  13. Hey All, First off...sorry if this gets posted twice, I didn't see it after hitting the Add New Topic button so I re-posted… When the Tool List is generated, it appears that only the *first* occurrence of a tool is looked at for the tool’s info. This causes tools that are first used with no comp, and then later used with comp, to be listed as no comp. Is there a way to scan all a tools ops to make sure any comp used is output in the list? Thanks, John
  14. I'm using this post for both a Yasnac & Fanuc control with the only difference being the rigid tapping...G95 on one and G93 on the other. I want to be able to select which one to use from the operation. Thanks, John
  15. Hey All, Ok, so I'm starting to dig into modifying a post and have a question on a custom drill cycle. The post I'm modifying is the Generic Fanuc 4x. I have set up a custom drill cycle for rigid tapping using G93 under what appears to be custom drill cycle 9: Control Definition > Text > Mill Drill Cycles > column labeled [drill cycle 9]. I see *NO* [drill cycle 8] just [misc2] to the left and [drill cycle 10] to the right. The issue I have is that in the post, I have to set up drill cycle 8 to get the correct output...not 9...what am I doing wrong? Thanks, John
  16. Yes, we have a horizontal w/B-Axis...I guess I'm not explaining myself well enough... The problem I have is that this particular part/model can be machined on the Front, Left & Right with no problem...B-Axis rotation works because the models orientation to these planes is correct. The Back however is *not* aligned and needs to be rotated -90 about the Z Axis in Mastercam to orient properly for the fixture being used. Basically, I get to the Back and the features I need to machine are sideways/horizontal and I need to flip them up to a vertical alignment to work with our fixture. I know this may be difficult to visualize, it's a *unique* looking part. John
  17. Hey Dave, I don't use WCS...I do use T/C planes. As for the -90 rotation, I have to rotate the view/part in order to get the proper orientation for the fixture we're using. This is the only side of the part where none of the standard views give me the correct orientation. John
  18. Hey Brett, Just in case I'm not following you correctly, here's what I did (From WCS TOP): I created a new view by going to GView, Back (WCS) I rotated the GView about the Z axis -90 deg. I set Planes =GView I set a new origin X .635, Y 0, Z 6.22 and saved this view as "G56". When adding toolpath, I selected GView, Named, G56. Where did I go wrong? I checked my mpmaster.pst and it's dated 04/04/2006...same date as on the website. Thanks for the help! John
  19. Hello Everyone, I've tried searching for the issue below but didn't find anything so... I downloaded mpmaster X (Beta Version of full Machine Def / Control Def integration) and get the following error message when posting: "ERROR - SELECT MACHINE ACHIEVABLE TOOLPLANE WITH Y-AXIS ALONG MACHINE Y - SET AND REPOST" I'm using the mpmaster_horizontal and even though I get the error, the gcode looks ok!?! I noticed that in the post, this messages is associated with both syaxiswarn & szaxiswarn. In my model, WCS = TOP, TP/GView = BACK rotated 90 degrees. Can anyone explain what this message indicates and how to fix/stop it? Thanks, John
  20. Thanks for the quick replies... I have set my op default for coolant on with tool. Spade has it nailed...I would just feel more confident if I *KNEW* this would never be an issue. Thanks again! John
  21. An extremely breif background: I'm new to Mastercam however I have 20+ years of IT/Networking/Programming so I'm a fairly quick learner. I have searched the posts but didn't find what I was looking for so I'm hoping one of the many Guru's that post here can help. I want to modify a post so that coolant is always turned on with the tool, regardless of coolant setting in the tool/operation. I'm hoping there is a variable or switch I an set which will make every tool/op = Flood On With Tool. I'm using the GENERIC FANUC 4X MILL. Thanks, John
