My issue is similar...applying a filter to the Library then adding a tool to the Part causes the filter to be applied to the Part making all other tools disappear.

Hope I'm understanding you correctly... In "Selected fields" window, arrange the fields in the order you want them displayed, then SELECT (highlight) the field you want the list sorted by. It should remember your settings. John

A new interface is good when it improves on usability, efficiency and productivity. Learning and becoming more comfortable with a new interface doesn't equal an IMPROVED interface. If it takes more clicks, mouse travel, additional hot keys or additional hands on keyboards to accomplish the same task as in previous versions...I consider it a step backward. ...just my opinion

Personally, I don't believe any software company is capable of conducting their own user study. Although they may enter into it with the best of intentions, they'll still find a way to see in the data exactly what they want to in order to justify their decisions. This is not a criticism nor am I placing blame, it's just what I believe. In my opinion, only a disinterested 3rd party could conduct such a study and the participants should be actual full time users, not schools or casual users. That said, I would love to participate in a real users study however the time required to fully test and document the issues/experience would require far more time than I think any of our employers would allow. But hey, that's just my opinion... John

I can see where new users may find the new unified layout simpler to learn but in my opinion it slows work flow. There are things I really like in 2017 however you'll have a very hard time convincing me that in the "Standard" interface does anything to improve work flow or efficiency. Simple Trim 2 Entities: 2017 Interface: Click WIREFRAME tab on left of screen Move to right end of ribbon bar, click Trim Break Extend Move all the way back to the left side of the screen and select Mode: Trim then Type: Trim 2 Entities Move back to the graphics window to complete trim Move back to the Trim Break Extend panel on the left again, click the green check X9 Design Interface: Click Trim Icon Move down slightly to ribbon bar, select Trim 2 Entity icon Move to graphics window to complete trim Move back to the ribbon bar and click green check 2017 has WAY MORE mouse travel and 2 more clicks to get same results as in X9! The QAB gets me closer to X9 efficiency but true user configured tool bars would be a huge improvement. But hey, that's just my opinion. John

Hey Everybody, I've been using 2017 for some time now and in my personal opinion I find the new interface requires a lot more work in the way of mouse clicks and mouse travel to accomplish the same tasks as X9. In order to stream line my work flow I've had to create a fairly big Quick Access bar and right-click context menu. Again, this is just my personal opinion...just want to see how it's effecting other usesr. Thanks, John

I had a similar issue...problem was I installed X9 but didn't start and exit it before trying to install X+ so some of the folders X+ needed weren't created yet. John

Hey Gang, Recently updated to X9 from X7 and can't get any window or dialog positions to save positions. They stay where positioned until restarting Mastercam, then they revert back to the original locations. I also can't seem to get the columns in the Tool selection portion of the Common Parameters window to remember its settings. When I installed X9, I installed for Everyone and I'm a member of the Administrators group. Also tried running As Administrator with sames results. Anyone have a solution? I would love it if CNC would devote at least one major version to just fixing all the known bugs and skip adding anything new. Fix all the little things we've been complaining about for years...bottom line it would be a better product and more appealing to new customers. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

How about *RETAINING* all of the values when changing the Toolpath Type, like when changing a Contour op to a Pocket op, instead of resetting it so that it has to be re-entered?

Hey Rick, You can DL PRMDEF from Mastercam.com. It allows you to choose between having new ops default to "last used" values or use the values you have set in your DEFAULTS file. I have mine set to ALWAYS use my defaults file. It's a great add-on and I don't know why it's not already a basic configuration setting. John

Hello everyone, Actually I have two feature requests... First, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... give us an option to control the auto-calculate fields based on tool diameter! How about: 1 - Value based on % of tool diameter (current and only option)…value changes when tool diameter changes. 2 - Value is fixed – doesn’t change (YES!) We do a considerable amount of microwave component work using end mills from .005 to .020 in diameter. Most of the features have little to no room for movement due to the size of the tool required and so very careful planning for leads is required. Once set, changing a tool by .001 on the diameter can render the op useless until all the values are adjusted. Second, make the PRMDEF Add-On an actual System Configuration Setting. I've been using this since I first found out about it and it's a great! Except for the fact that it must be installed separately, set as the Startup Add-In and you’re prompted every time Mastercam starts. Thanks for your consideration! John

CamMan1, 1-1.5 is nowhere near good enough resolution. Bottom line, I really need Verify and now it's pretty much useless to me. Slick, I have all the same issues as you...that’s what lead to my original post. The attached jpg shows toolpath of a .020 dia end mill cutting .100 wide waveguides with .012 radii in the corners. Wireframe of features shown...cuts show gouges, bulges, mismatch. Looks the same with a Defaults setting of 4...just takes exponentially longer to simulate. In my opinion...dump all the eye candy and just make it work!

For me, the *NEW* X7 Verify only useful for collision detection at best. The old X6 Verify was much better resolution and was FASTER for *me*. We do a lot of microwave component machining using micro end mills (.005-.055 dia) in parts usually no bigger thatn 4 x 2 inches. With the precision slider at MAX and the defaults file at 4, it takes over 5 minutes just to get Verify loaded and going (on small simpler parts!)...not to mention the EXTREMELY long time to watch the full simulation. To top it all off, it takes mega time to "Accureate Zoom" on an area only to see that the simulated cuts are no where close to the wireframe outline of the feature. Wish I had stuck with X6. But hey, it's just my opinion.

Hey Everyone, Just *recently* got my new workstation and X7 installed and I'm working thru some new issues... Can you duplicate this... - Right-Click in the Op Manager at the Insert Arrow to bring up he standard Tool Paths menu. - Left -Click on the graphis window to cancel/close Tool Path menu & the Tool Bars Selection menu appears. Didn't happen in X6. Thanks, John

I've found that the size of the graphics window will affect the size of the picture on the setup sheet...at least on XP machines. Haven't got a Win7 machine to try it on yet.
