  1. Yes, but if you want a standalone FTP server for free (open source), let me know. You can run it networked or on a standalone PC connected to your Fanuc thru ethernet. Our works great!
  2. Matt, I had the same problem. Never did figure it out, but I did create a workaround. See here for the thread.
  3. We're using Popen and Pclose to capture to FTP on a Fanuc 18i, very similar to the way james pointed out in his code above.
  4. +1000 Clay. We use snagit for creating setup sheets, capturing screens from Catia, MC, and any other app you can see on screen. It is pretty easy to use.
  5. Here it is! If anyone needs to do this, I found a pretty simple way, using sequence number comparison and stop. I tested on Fanuc 18i/16i controls and works great. Don't know about other controls. Using parameters 8341 and 8342, you designate program # and block # (respectively) to single block. when done, param 8342(block#) turns to -1, so make sure to re-specify when needed. Param 8341 (prog.#) stays. code: G10L50 (TURN ON PARAMETER WRITING) N8341R1234 (WRITES VALUE 1234 TO PARAM 8341) N8342R2000 (WRITES VALUE 2000 TO PARAM 8342) G11 (TURN OFF PARAMETER WRITING) G090X10. N2000 G1Y-.5F20. (BLOCK TO SINGLE STOP) G91G28Z0 M30
  6. I know that while M0/M1 are viable (and sooo much easier), I am trying to figure out if this is possible for a number of tricky things. Also, on one of our machines, the stop unlocks the orientation, which defeats the purpose.
  7. We are using some winged back spotface tools (Steiner autofacers), and doing something similar, but the ones I'm concerend about are 3.55 dia, x .75 Cbore depth offset bars 13.9" long
  8. This is for a back counterbore operation. I just want operator to confirm position of tool after orientation prior to sending mega $$$ tool into hole.
  9. any Fanuc experts know of any reliable method of forcing a feed hold or single block? I know that on a Fadal, you can program a G4P65000 to force a single block, any thing like it on a fanuc 18i? I can write a macro enabling/disabling single block and such, but don't want to have to run with single block switch on all the time. any ideas? Thx, Robert
  10. Kevangel, Your file comment makes me laugh, 'cause we keep hearing 'bout the German apprentices. My Dad went thru an apprenticeship at Maytag (yea, the dryer folks)and his first project was a square to "file" round within .100 - a "bearing" if you will. So I don't think its just the old Germans, just the old dudes. And wouldn't you know, even after hearing that from him, I still went into the trade (back in '75, at 15 yrs old)
  11. Snowman, You are indeed THE MAN!! That did it. Thank you. I hope to get better as time goes, so I don't have to bother you finew people with mundane stuff. Thanks again!
  12. Snowman, That sounds like what I'm looking for, but I don't see a misc value for lock on first wcs. Do you know if generic Fanuc 5x post supports this, or am I just an imbicile and not seeing it. Thx again.
  13. Yes, Tplanes set up the plane changes, xyz are all wcs postions with B and C rotations. This all works fine, but when I post, the g54 values do not change.
  14. I'm kinda new to MC, using MCX, MR1, Generic 5th axis post that has worked for us till now. I'm trying to use fixture offsets for each view (Tplane), offsets 13 thru 20 (g54.1p8 ~ p17) Now, if I post only one op, it posts the proper offset in that op. If I post multiple ops, it posts ALL offsets the same - whatever the first op is. It's like it doesn't see the offset change. Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to do something in my machine def or ??? Thanks in advance for any help Robert
  15. has been? that mean I can get it? I've got a part with many customs, and would like to backplot/verify.....
  16. Welp, after some 'sperimenting, I've come up with a (albeit temporary until fixed) workaround for the UFO. If I use an external file as my cutter, I ALWAYS get the UFO. If I use a level, I get good backplot tooling. Go figgure! This IS a bug. (anyone listening?) Try it yerselves and see if it works for you
  17. Been searching forum for my problem, and found this thread - looks like months have past........ Fairly new user, - X,MR1 - I too, am getting the "UFO Frisbee" look in with custom file tools in backplot - fine in verify. Has there been any progress on this glich?? pretty time consuming to have to verify when a backplot could do most of the time.
  18. Right now, I'm too busy on this project to take the time to check another file, but another one of our programmers was unable to replicate. Must be something up with this particular geo or maybe a corrupt level from iges import?? I'll lok into it further down the road, but at least I know the steps NOT to take to keep going
  19. Guess this is one of those "stand on left leg, whirl right arm in CCW direction" things. If I just don't create a level just prior to creating solid from surface, all is good........... prolly a bug that only shows up in a certain sequence of events, but I can make it happen EVERY time! wierd.
  20. OK, I can get it to happen every time now........ If I first go into level mgr and create a new level (say 107, name = leg pad) as main and leave it as main, exit levle mgr, go to "solid from surfaces", "select" btn, I get internal error. Every time. Now if I don't go into level mgr first to create level, I have no problem. I can put this up on FTP if needed. Try this procedure and let me know. By the way, surfaces file is an IGES trans from Catia v5, and is fairly large. Other than this goofy thing I am MUCH happier with MC than Catia for mfg. Haven't had much time to play with MC CAD yet tho. Thx. Robert
  21. Hey Gang, I'm just getting started in MC,using X MR1, mill level 3, 5th ax part. All going well till now. When trying to create solid from surface, I click on select to put solid on a certain level. every time I click select, I get an "internal error" message. Nothing else. Then I can't exit funtion, and kinda hangs. I can do some other stuff, but nothing that needs me to exit this function first. Can't even exit MC!! I get a "cannot close application while a task is active" box. I have to force an end task in task mgr. I have done this many times before now without any problems. Wierd thing is, if I just type a level number in, it works ok,and I can go about my bidness until I try to go into level mgr, then I get the internal error thing Hep me plz! Robert
