Technically you should only ever pay maitence IMO, I bought my seat of Solidworks by taking over the contracted loan agreement from my closing employer, if this were same situation I actually would be interested, Mill 1 doesnt get me much but its upgradable, instead of looking at that they just say nope. I was offered the same companies paid for seat of Mcam and the Lic. transfer was 1/2 the seat cost for Mill Lev 3 with solids at the time (v9) just starting my business I couldnt do it then. There should be no thousandes up front if its leased property, just mait.

I recieved an rfq from a potential new avenue and no one wants to touch these parts. 200 nickle (no experience) and round aprox 3/4 long .520 dia with a thru hole of .49 +/- .002. i was looking to have them extruded 1 in 12 suppliers quoted it. Can this be turned? i do not have a cnc lathe but..........would be motivated into one possibly if this could be done.

     

    I am wondering if it would be possible to finish the id, part them finish length then use some sort of expansion arbor to turn the OD.

    Thats a debate, but not worth the risk. When we got our new systems I installed 9 on 64 bit Vista business, it would freeze but ran. Rolled back to XP and it works alright here. 64 bit XP and it runs. I dont use it except for a few old files once and awhile so I can not say how well it works.

  4. Rick U don't need a ball mill, I prefer a bullnose, but I run a little differant, I run a .25 bull nose with a .02 corner rad at 9200 rpms and 130. ipm with a .1 doc, 70% step over.

    finish wall at each step down. This feeb I use and my cutter is in a shrink fit sticking out 2" in a HSK32 holder.

  5. corn cob in graphite, BWAAAAAAHAHAHA go with your method first cut depth like .02 to keep a sharp edge after that its on .25 - .300 DOC 7500 rpms 120 ipm to get it out of there, plunging with center cut endmill.

  6. they are awesom endmills, and the tech data for speeds and feeds is generally right there. I have an excel format seco speed and feed calc, that you enter the book numbers for. I can not find it at the moment but will post it when I do.

  7. I would get it down around the 1400 rpm and and in the 8 to 10 ipm range for a 4 flute regular endmill. Slowing the feed alone is not good, rpms are your enemy at that length. What type of tool, and how many flutes? are you just picking out a corner? and also if you have to get more cutters get the shortest flute length you can for rigidity. Garr makes cutters up to 6" with short flute length.

  8. okay fellas, in the past I can Surfcam had this nailed pretty good however was weak at all else. I need to know how to properly save and open files to get a link between a solidworks model and mastercam to stay. If a part changes in the design directory I want a warning box to pop up to let me know model has change in Mastercam. Is this possible? Using X2MR2 with Mait agreement.

     

    Also in order for it to properly work do I have to create a work coor on part where it is imported?

    What is the Machine type? I finished most holes in a Mori within .0002/.0003 with DZ drill then helix bore with finish pass at bottom. If its got to be closer then I use a kaiser boring head.
