  1. After 8 years of Mastercam fun, I lost my job. Good news is I was lucky enough to get a new job. But...no Mastercam!.....I'm now training into UG....yikes! Good luck folks. Thanks for all the help over the years.
  2. Oohhh that's great, I'll just "trust" that my high dollar tooling doesn't look like a bowl full of spaghetti on Monday morning. X4??? how about...X NOW!! Better get working on the list boys, we've waited enough for some of these feature to work. Some of the guys I train have a VERY hard time changing their ways from tried and true methods...so when things do not work properly....tooling gets trashed.
  3. OK, I give. I installed X3 and then the X+ prgram; X+ is in German? language...how do I set to English? I like the Germans and all, but I have enough problems reading English...let alone learning a 2nd. Thanks, Earl
  4. It's not a rapid motion that's creating the problem area. So, I would not call it a crash really. But with the cutter we're using....straight wall becomes a crash after about an inch. The tool path feeds right across like it should for the first .250 depth, then starts ommitting the draft. There are no detailed areas, just a simple surface. BTW it digs in on only a portion of this one surface. I would think that back plotting, and solid verification for a fairly simple part geometry should be plenty good. My employer is not a fan of Mastercam....so bringing up another verification software would not be good for "The Cause". But, I have to document why we're welding and what "corrective actions etc......."blah blah.
  5. We had a couple incidents recently cutting a mold where the programmer had fully verified the toolpaths using the previous operations STL file as the stock model. In all cases there was a signifigant surface violation that does not show in verify. The program used was surface finish countour. It was cutting a 2 degree drafted wall....then basically ommitted the draft from a small area. Is this a file problem....??How do I catch these? Same file two different machines, two different posts. Thanks, Rick
  6. Same problem to report here, ICONS go *poof*. I save my toolbars under multiple names so I always have a back-up or two. I have to fix the toolbars once or twice a week for the shop guys (3) seats and my computer.
  7. I'm getting the same "unhandled exception error" on both of the PC's in my department after installing MR2. Usually happens when saving after merging in a file.
  8. I have used MC for electrodes for over 7 years now.Nice to meet you. echo echo
  9. Thanks Glenn, that seems to work as a remedy fix. Problem is, we manipulate and build a huge amount of geometry to create electrodes in Mastercam; and I can't guarantee that we'll catch all the twisted surfaces all the time prior to programming. Are most people using Mastercam only for the toolpaths and receiving the "pulled" electrodes from other software? Let's hear from the EDM Crowd.
  10. To clarify, most if not all of the problem surfaces were not imported from outside Mastercam. Mostly they are "patches" and user created surfaces used in building electrodes. In addition I get a weird association that I can't get rid of as follows. When I extend the lines used to create a surface, then save & reopen the file, the surface then extends to match the line.Is there a simple setting I am missing.
  11. Not pretty is my boss riding my @#$ about programming problems. I just know I've been trying very hard to resolve some issues using the given resources and have a stack of e-mails about an inch thick that have not included much in the way of help, mostly just...please be patient we're working on it.
  12. Thanks Glenn, That works to fix them "IF" I catch them prior to programming. Is it something in my settings that causes this? We have several people working with Mastercam and I can't guarantee that everyone will do this everytime....just one more thing to remember. Anyway thanks, I can't believe our reseller and QC@Mastercam could not give me such a quick fix in the last several months of communication.Total dissapointment in the support system.
  13. X2 using the ZIP2Go utility.
  14. John you have mail. re: Twisty surfaces Did I call you Jim....sorry. Thanks for the welcome folks, I got tired of fighting things alone so I thought I'd try here.I've been using Mastercam for about six years and the MCX/MCX2 transition has about killed me. Our reseller is just a salesman,.....no help.
  15. Elraiis, I feel your pain, those of us that lived on the hot keys have had a time of it.I liked the the last versions before the whole X transition really well for job shop work. I'd suggest hanging up the hot keys and getting to know the new layout better, painfull I know. Faster maybe but lots of extra clicking and new quirks....all in the name of progress.......right?. That's as politically correct as I can be about MCX/MCX2 on this forum.
  16. OK, I checked in with our NET Police and they can't open the link either, we have no FTP restrictions. I can ZIP it and E-Mail the examples to those interested, otherwise I'll try the FTP tomorrow. But for now its time to go home and shovel snow!!
  17. Yes I am using IE7, and I am guessing you are right about the work / FTP connection.I did not think of that, I'll have to go strangle the NET Nerd.
  18. The FTP Server does not seem to open at this time, for me. Could someone else try the link??
  19. I'd love to share a simple before / after example; newbie question....do I put them on the FTP site? The link in the FAQ does not seem to work.
  20. Is anyone else having problems with X2 twisting surfaces when rotating or mirroring surfaces? I was told by Mastercam QC that there is a problem and it should be addressed with X2 MR1. I'm just surprised that there don't see anyone posting about it. I do alot of surface building / electrode pulling, and this is SLOWING ME DOWN. How soon till MR1 ???
