  1. The log file says that the files have been sucessfully updated.I have scrolled to the bottom of the .pst file and I can't even find a reference to the version number that it supports.
  2. Combined Mill and Lathe Post Processor Version 9.19 © Copyright 1992-2004 CNC Software, Inc. Processing file with MLAM113X_E... The post version does not match the executable version, Run UPDATEPST9 ! Program execution halted due to error(s) running .pst This is the message I get even after running the updatepst c'hook on one post processer or on the whole directory of posts, what am i doing wrong?
  3. Okay, everyone,I went back and reinstalled design tracker 8 after removing it from my computer.Found out that because my drive is partitioned the default directory that mcam9 put the exe.in was on the other side of my drive, therefore it could not find it to use it.As of this morn. ,everything is working fine as far as converting .ipt files. Thanks so much all of you for your help, don't know what I would do without this forum!!!!Pete
  4. Thanks for all your help Greg,I'll have to see my (IT) computer guy to gain access to the ftp site, they seem to be blocking me from using a ftp addresses!!!!
  5. Okay,I've downloaded design tracker 8 and the patches, I can now convert these files to trimmed surfaces only, every time I attempt to convert them as soilds, it crashes mcam9 !!What gives,is there another patch I need?
  6. Supposedly they are Inventor 8 files and I have design tracker 5.3 installed. As far as the patches are concerned, aren't they for mcam 9.1 and above?
  7. Maybe I wasn't clear before,I'm trying to read .ipt files from autodesk inventor. What do I need to install to make this work? The operating system is xp pro, mcam version 9.0 sp1,with autodesk design tracker installed as per the help menu in mcam9.
  8. I am trying to read .ipt files into mcam9, the menu you refer to looks to be if you're trying to read in parasolid files ie. x_t and so on.Hope this clears up any misunderstanding about what my problem is.Thanks for the quick reponse!!Pete Stacklyn
  9. Can you undo an update because of problems it created? I tried to go from 9.0sp1 to 9.1sp2 and now when I use the autodesk file converter mcam9 locks up and then dumps me out, because its looking for pskernel 14.1 and I can only find pskernel 13.2
  10. Why is it that when I do a file get, some of the files in my directories are just files and will not open and others in the same directory are mastercam part files and will open normally? All of these files have been created using mc8.
  11. Every thing seems to be working pretty well with the exception that the recieving control seems to be shutting down the rs-232 port before the end of my programs.I have read the online help menu that came with the spectrum software, and have tried different settings on the close port when there is a certain number of bytes to send setting, with no success. Maybe I just don't understand enough about how the whole thing works or maybe this is a common problem with the trak age software!!
  12. Yahoooo !!! Finally got it to accept a drilling and milling program in .cam format !! Went back and finally understood that the baud rate for .cam files is preset at the machine and cannot be changed, found that I had baud set on com port of download comp. set at 2400,needed to be set to match machine at 4800 Voila. Now the remaining problem that I have is that the tool setting page on machine shows a tool number of 1780 after it is finished loading from the download computer, which I don't even have in my library of tools.Do I have to load a dummy program from a floppy with enough tool numbers in it so I can preset them before I send the program via the wire? Also, the machine never lets you know that the file is done being loaded,it just sits there as though it's still being sent.Only way I can tell it's done is to press the mode button and hope that it was done !! Can't thank you guys enough for the help you've already given me,hope that I can reciprocate someday soon.
  13. I have carefully gone back and checked every setting but I can't seem to find where you set the "duplex" setting in the com port setup as per the manual. Can someone please tell me where it is on the Spectrum setup page?
  14. Thanks, jimspac,I'll give that a try next week.Stay tuned for further updates!!I'll let everyone know how I make out.Billet
  15. The other problem I'm having is that when I drip feed a program,it won't allow me to do drilling of any kind. That is why I'm trying to send a .cam file, those type files will allow me to do any kind of drilling routine I want,at least from the floppy drive.I hope to be able to send drilling routines over the wire, and then store them in the control to be used repeatedly!!
  16. Wow, can't beleive all the responses!!! Have no problem running a .cam file from floppies, just can't seem to send one over the wire.As far as what communications package we are using ,it is a system from Spectrum cnc technologies inc. called multi-dnc for windows nt. The particular machine I'm trying to send to, can only be slowed to 2400 baud, and I've already made sure all other settings such as stop bits, parity and so on are matched exactly.I should also mention that sometimes when I send even a dnc program,it doesn't always run the complete file, sometimes it sits there with the spindle running like it didn't reach the end of the program.Btw,thanks for the warm welcome, hope I can help someone else in the future!!
  17. Has anyone had any experience downloading .cam files via the rs-232 cable to a trak a.g.e.3? I keep getting a framing error on the machine control screen when ever I try to send a file there !! Bty,I have been sucessful at sending .dnc files. Thanks
