  1. Thanks for all the input. Looks like I will be sticking it out with X6.
  2. I have been using X6 MU2 for years. My company hasn't upgraded because they have switched to Catia and only use MasterCam to work on all of our legacy programs. We have ten years worth of parts that have been programmed in Master Cam. They haven't programmed any new parts in MasterCam but I spend 80% of my time going back and updating or fixing old stuff. I asked if we can upgrade because my version of MasterCam takes forever to regenerate some toolpaths and I get thrown out a lot. (IT blames MasterCam and MasterCam blames IT, and I am stuck in the middle) In my opinion a new version would pay for itself in time savings alone. I would like some input as to whether or not you all think it would be worth upgrading and if I do would I avoid some of the problems I am currently having? Or in other words, is the latest version stable? Thanks, Mike
  3. Cathedral, I thank you, my eyes thank you, my head thanks you. It worked like a champ.
  4. I am still using mcx-6. Can anyone please tell me if there is any way to increase the font size in the Operations manager without changing the resolution of my computer. I see a way to use "Large Buttons" in the config file but no way to change the font size. Mine is so small it gives me a headache and eye strain trying to read it. Thanks,
  5. I am still using MaxterCam X6 MU2. My computer: Intel® Xeon ® CPU W3450 @ 2.93 GHz - 6GB Memory - 64-bit OS Graphics Card: NVicia Quadro FX 3800 - Total memory 3838 MB - 1920 x 1200 (recommended) resolution with Medium - 125% setting to change the size of my text. I don't use MasterCam except to go back and change parts that were previously programmed in MasterCam. Lately I have been doing a lot of that. I just started haveing this problem. When I move my MasterCam window between monitors it takes 10 - 15 seconds to come back up. If I minimize or maximize the window I get the same lag time. If I make the window smaller I have to wait but then I can drag it back and forth with no lag time. But when I maximize it I have to wait again. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this. My IT guy is stumped. Thanks, Mike
  6. If it is the IT guys, which I don't doubt, shouldn't my mastercam guys come in amd sit down with them and try to help figure it out? One of the biggest arguments mastercam presenteted to us for going with them was the fact that they would be there to support us if we had issues. They came in, looked at the problem and disappeared never to be heard from again.
  7. MasterCrash. Mastercam blames it on IT. My IT guys blame it on Mastercam. I'm stuck in the middle. I've had it. I'm out.
  8. mcam 6 mu2 windows 7 Our IT guys changed some stuff on our network. Now the referenced file warning pops up when opening a file. (See attachment) It is an old file brought into x6 to update some ops. I get "The above file name is referenced in the file being opened. A current version of this file can not be found so the previous version file wlill continue to be referenced." The file shown is %MCAMDIR%mill\ops\mill inch defaults from v9 defaults. I don't get where the file is referenced from. Especially a v9 file. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  9. Haven't changed the screen resolution.
  10. Windows 7 Professional MasterCam x6mu2 Having an issue with the bar on the bottom of the screen ( The one that says "For help, press Alt+H." I call it the information bar ) When I maximize my mastercam this bar disappears. It just started happening yesterday and for no apparent reason. I am having to minimize and then grab the corner of my mastercam window and drag it as close as I can to the corners of my screen without maximizing it. Anybody else ever have an issue like this. And does anybody have an idea what caused it and how to fix it. Thanks in advance, Mike
  11. X6 MU2 Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (6.1.7601) Service Pack 1 64-bit Memory: 6288952 KB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 Has anyone seen this error. This message pops up when I regenerate an optirest toolpath using a stock model as my material: "Refine Toolpath Feature (RTF) Interface is currently disabled. This operation has RTF parameters set. RTF processing will be applied to this operation." I have set the Refine toolpath box to "Normal" nc program length, "Better" Surface quality, and "Normal" Calculation time. Total tolerance is at .005. This toolpath is taking 25 minutes to regenerate. Also, in my task manager it appears that MasterCam is only utilizing about 35% of my memory. I have "Memory burrering" set to 100% of physical memory. Is there anything I can do to get MasterCam to use more memory so it will process faster?
  12. Passed the file to another programmer that just installed x7. He opened it and created a new machine group with no problem. I think I am going to uninstall x7 and reinstall it. Can someone give me a link to uninstalling x7 correctly. Thanks Mike
  13. @Mike I agree 1000000000%
  14. @Jay, Sure. How do I attach it?
  15. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (6.1.7601) Service Pack 1 64-bit Memory: 6288952 KB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 I programmed a part on one machine and want to program the fixture on another. Every time I try to create a new machine group for my fixture I get thrown out of x7. I have had numerous other problems with x7 and have been told it might be my graphics card. I updated my driver with a certified driver and it hasn't helped. I have been told it is my anti-virus software. I disable it and x7 still crashes. Now I can't even create a new machine group. Gettnig pretty fed up. Mike (One very frustrated programmer)
  16. When it comes to computers I will admit I haven't had the time to keep up with the rapidly changing technology so I am relatively ignorant. But I fail to see the connection between X7 throwing me out when I unblank an entity, move an operation up in the order of my op manager, regenerate a toolpath etc... and my anti-virus software. If there were it seems to me that I would get thrown out EVERY time I try to do any of these things and not randomly. Once thrown out I can restare mcam and it works fine.... for a while. I have full access to all my folders, didn't use the migration tool, didn't copy X6 config file to X7, and still get kicked. My IT guy is going to disable my anti-virus for a couple of days to see how X7 runs. Hoping it will make a difference but am skeptical.
  17. gcode - Did that. My reseller had me move my config and restart. Then I opened x6 and x7 and matched all the settings from x6.
  18. Thanks for the help. I do have full control of my folders. Could be my anti-virus. My IT guy is going to check it out. Hoping that is the problem.
  19. K2csq7 - I did contact my reseller. They are the only ones I have dealt with so far. Machineguy - My dealer is involved. They are the ones that told me they have no problems. My hasp is on my computer. I will have my IT dept check on the antivirus. Funny though how x6 didn't have issues crashing when I did some of the things I am doing in x7 that cause it to crash. Hockey Guy - I just started X7 and it is the first part I am trying to program. Gcode / CJep - No, I didn't use migration. I have heard bad things about it. I did try to use the x6 config file but it didn't work so I opened x6 and x7 and changed all the x7 settings individually to match x6. I also had my reseller on a web meeting look at my settings (file locations, etc)
  20. Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (6.1.7601) Service Pack 1 64-bit Memory: 6288952 KB NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 Mill X7 SP2 Am I the only one having issues with mcx7 crashing on a regular basis? I regenerate a stock model – poof! I unblank an entity – poof! I change a parameter – poof! And on and on…. Here is how it goes: I email my mastercam support with my problem. They tell me to send them a z2g file. I email the file. They tell me it works fine for them. They say, “I know we have many customers that are using it, and so far we have not had reports of crashes. We use it daily in support, and find it stable as well.” The end. Am I an anomaly? Am I the only frustrated x7 user? I find it hard to believe that I am the ONLY one having issues.
  21. I just installed x7 and was updating file locations. When I tried to open x6 to see where a file was pointed to I got this error / warning box: Error opening INSERT.TBL and get thrown out. Can anyone tell me what is going on? Thanks, Mike
  22. For what it's worth, any time I merge a file I immediately go to the groups manager and delete the group. I was having trouble with a jumbled up ops manager and was told that there was a problem with merging files. Since doing this I rarely have a problem. And when I do have one I go to the groups manager and sure enough I forgot to delet a group. When working on other peoples files I will open this and there may be 7 or 8 different groups from merged files. Try deleting them and see if it helps your problem.
  23. Can you tell me why HALF THE TIME the cplane shown in the view manager doesn’t match the one in the workspace (attachment) This is very annoying. Also, why do I have to constantly have to “regenerate display list” to get my entities to show up. Again, quite annoying and has led to problems because I can’t see geometry and think it isn’t there or I accidentally deleted it when it is there all along. Just not showing up until I regenerate. One frustrated mastercam user.
