  1. I just got a new laptop that I am using with a wireless mouse. The auto cursor works fine when I analyze solids, but the square box won't appear when I analyze the endpoint or mid point of a line. It just highlights the entire line. Is there a setting I need to change or could this be a problem caused by the wireless mouse or possibly a video card problem. Hopefully I don't need to trade in this computer. 2. That does seem slow especially for carbide. How are you holding the tool? In a collet or solid tool holder?
  3. I normally create a bounding box around my solid model to get a better perspective of how I need to rotate it. Then I rotate it into the correct position. Oh yeah...... or just use the WCS.
  4. Thanks Matt, I'll give the solid layout function a try. The reason I ask is because I want to check my views with the views on the print to make sure I created the part correctly.
  5. If I create a 3D wireframe in Mastercam is there a way to print out the top, bottom, front, back, right, and left views as they would appear if orthographically projected on a print including hidden lines? I would like to be able to print all the views on one sheet of paper just as they would appear on a print.
  6. Thanks Matt and everyone else, I'm working with a thru hole and it goes thru two diameters. I ran the hole axis C-hook, selected my cylinders and some dashed lines were created. I'm not sure how to use the dashed lines to create my tool plane.
  7. I'm on my way to work. Where do I get the C-hook for V9.1. I'll Check back with you later.
  8. I need to create a tool plane to drill some holes for a horizontal machining opeation. The problem I am having is that the holes go through a round surface not a flat surface. When I select Toolplane/Entity/ and then select one of the holes I recieve the message....."Selected entity is not flat." How can I align my toolplane with the holes I need to drill. I can put the file on the FTP site if someone tells me how. Thanks.
  9. Thanks I'll see about the CD and ref.pdf and I guess I'll start trying to make some changes and see how it affects my output code.
  10. Is there any information available for someone to learn about customizing post processors. I know G-code very well but I have no experience customizing post processors. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
  11. I use arcs and I hold down the "C" key on the keyboard while selecting them so it automatically selects the center of each arc.
  12. I did get the files I went on vacation sorry it took so long to get back to you guys. Thanks for all your help. I'm sure the files will help.
  13. I am new to horizontal machining and tombstones. I was going through the WCS tutorial example 4 for tombstone applications. I completed the tutorial and machined pockets on all four sides of the tombstone. It posted with a G54 B0 for front face; G55 B90 for right side face; G56 B180 for back face; and G57 B270 for left face.My question is if I were to set this job up on a horizontal mill where would I set G54,G55,G56, and G57? When I press F9 to view the origin it is on the front face lower right corner of the tombstone. Do I need to set a different fixture offset for each face? If anyone is familiar with this tutorial let me know. Thanks..........
  14. In V9.1 create/curve/all edges/Solids/ then in the menu that says pick a solid entity make sure Faces=Y and Solids=No. Then select the face you want the contour to go around. Then hit done twice and do it. The face will then have the curve around it and you can use it to chain your contour. If other geometry comes up when you create your edge curve just delete it.
  15. Hardmill thanks for the c-hook it works great. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get some PDF blueprints to practice programming. I've done almost every mastercam tutorial and can create my own parts in 2D or 3D but don't find it as challenging as drawing from a print. I have not been able to do much programming at my job lately and I don't want to lose my skills. Thanks
  16. If I create a solid model using mastercam V9.1 is there any way to save the solid without also saving the 2D geometry I used to create the solid. If I use save some and select only the solid it always saves the 2D geometry along with the solid even if they are created on different levels. Thanks
  17. Thanks I'll try to come up with a something harder next time.
  18. Is there a way to save a 3d model as a Jpeg in Mastercam Mill V9.1
  19. Thanks for all the replies threads were something I wanted to incorporate into my solid models just for the visual effect and for the sake of making it work. The Mcmaster Carr method worked fine I'll try to sweep cut a traingle with a helix as well. Thanks again for all the help.
