  1. should I still be putting in 18 for send at start of feed and 20 for "send at end of feed"?
  2. when I use the default settings for a Fanuc 16T I get an error message on the fanuc that says error 086 ("when entering data in the memory by using reader/puncher inteface, the ready singal (DR) of reader/puncher was turned off.") and unless I check (wait for Xon) in mastercam it goes through as if it was sending, but doesnt' send to anything.
  3. What should I put in these fields (Mastercam Editor- Machine Configuration - port ) and (mastercam X editor - machine configuration - send) so that mastercam can commincate with a fanuc 0m/0t. When I got to send the file it acts like it sends but the fanuc machine blinks LSK and doesn't start the input, but I can tell that mastercam and the machine are commincating just wrongly.
  4. I called the commincatinos expert at macdac and he said that there is a conflict with these connectors and recommendes getting the pci card instead as someone else had mentioned so I will try that and see what happens.
  5. I have now updated to MR2, but instead of getting the no port found error message I get this error message that says "no matching port was found. check to make sure the specified port exists or is enabled on the PC" on the mastercam editor. On the actual fanuc machine I get error message 086 "when entering data in the memory by using reader/puncher interface, the ready singal (DR) of reader/puncher was turned off." I don't think it is my usb to Serial DB25 convereter, I think it is a setting inside the editor. I changed the editor configuration the best I could to what it was before and to what MMT-USA specified, but I couldn't find everything written. I am using both a fanuc 0-m for the mill and fanuc 0T for the lathe. I am trying to connect using a usb to a serial DB5 to a serial 25DB connector, but I really don't think it is the connector.
  6. now that I downloaded the update I get a different error message that says "no matching port was found. check to make sure the specified port exists or is enabled on the PC" on the mastercam editor. On the actual fanuc machine I get error message 086 "when entering data in the memory by using reader/puncher interface, the ready singal (DR) of reader/puncher was turned off." 7. yah its the fanuc 0m computer I am trying to commincate with. That is what I had for a setting, so it must be this update.
  8. yah I purchased the product March of this year, and I have a year maintanance so I think I am covered. The MR2 update should fix the com port error I am getthing though? the problem is I am trying to set alot of communications settings from the really old software, baud rate, pairty data bits, stop bits, xon/xoff/ etc. and I don't know if those are whats messing it up.
  9. I haven't downloaded any updates, I didn't realize I needed any, so I am assuming I have the original. I am going to preced to download MR@ off of mastercam.coms site thanks.
  10. Even with nothing connected, no usb, no serial port. Mastercam X editor says that the port is currently in use. I have tried it on multiple computers.
  11. I am having difficult moving to mastercam X and communicating with a Fanuc 0m. It says that the port is currently in use (port 4), but only my port 3 is being used. I am using a USB to DB25 converter. It used to use a DB9-DB25 on the old computer, but this computer doesnt' have a seriel port. Am I just putting in the wrong configuration settings?
  12. Thanks John13 that worked great. John P - mastercam X mill level 1, just a newb so far.
  13. I started with a program, and then I edited the drawing and added another operation(drill) and instead of going to machine group 1 it added a machine group 2. Why is that? I then copied that operation and placed it in machine group 1 and deleted machine group 2, but whenever I generate the G-code it generates a code for machine group 1 and machine group 2(being the final drill operation). Can anyone help me so that I only have one G-code with multiple tools. Garrett
  14. "I am having a similar problem where I have the cuttercomp set to "wear" where it implements the G41 which is what I want, but when I got to change it on the cnc it gives an error message because it doesn't compensate for cutter comp before it plunges. I need this feature because when I need to be real precise and tool wear becomes a factor. Can I still do this with the plunge options that David B was talking about" in the circle mill operation? I know how to change the lead in and lead out in the countour operation, but I can't find it in the circle mill operation. Garrett
