  1. Is there any threaded holes in your part? I would strongely recommend Thread milling. I have used many thread mills and found that CARMEX works best for us. I used there 2-56 thread mill and never broke one. I would have to guess I threaded around 80 holes with one cutter. Still would cut many more if I had more to parts to run.
  2. I used a bunch of different cutters on titanium. OSG is good but are pretty expensive. Some of the best I used was Hitachi cutters with EPOCH coating. Another value source that I had really good luck with was YG. Hope this helps. I think shrik fit would still be better than ER collets.
  3. I ran into this before. What you have to do is in the VIEW MANAGER< make sure all your Woff #'s are set to zero. This should give you what you need. Let me know if it does.
  4. We machine a fair amount of Titanium. I had a reputable tool rep in that sold shrink fit tool holders. When I said I was machining Titanium, he recommended staying away from shrink fit and advised me to stick with our Rego-fix Press fit system?
  5. Make sure you have a value in Entry/Arc/Sweep.
  6. I recommend a NACHI SG drills. They are powdered metal. definatley use a Thread mill. The best I found was CARMEX thread mill called Mini Mill. They are second to none. I have threaded 100 0-80 holes in titanium with one tool. Could have kept going but the job was done.
  7. "I'm glad I read this post were do you change that setting? in the config or in the post." This is what we use when posting out I,J &K's found in the post "General output settings" spaces : 1 #Number of spaces to add between fields omitseq : yes #Omit sequence numbers? seqmax : 9999 #Max. sequence number arcoutput : 0 #0 = IJK, 1 = R no sign, 2 = R signed neg. over 180 arctype : 2 #Arc center 1=abs, 2=St-Ctr, 3=Ctr-St, 4=unsigned inc. breakarcs : 1 #Break arcs, 0 = no, 1 = quadrants, 2 = 180deg. max arcs do_full_arc : 0 #Allow full circle output? 0=no, 1=yes helix_arc : 1 #Support helix arc output, 0=no, 1=all planes, 2=XY plane only
  8. We have a shop full of old and new Okumas. Our older Okumas do not have much for memory as some of you know. So we post out with R's to reduce the size of the program. Not saying its right or wrong. The newer Okumas have tons of memory so the program size is not a factor. However we have much success interpolating bosses and bores. We consistently hold tolerances with in .0002 tir. I would concentrate on your FEED rate. If that does not work look at what kind of tool, 2 flt 4 flt, inserted cutter and what kind of holder. Lots of variables can cause out of round. I found the biggest is to fast of feed. Just my 2 cents.
  9. I have tried that. It's locked onto red for some reason. I've tried changing the color option, then selecting my surfaces and still does not change?
  10. I do all my programming with models. When importing the modles into MC the surfaces are green like they should be. However sometimes the sufaces are red and will not let me change the colors no? What causes this? Thanks,
  11. mark-huxford Hello, We have a Hermle C600U with a 530 control. I use Camplete to post all of my programs 3, 4 or 5axis.
  12. Code_Breaker hit it on the head. I'm not trying to move the selected geometry to a new level just copy it.
  13. I've been using MasterCam for many years. I had always wondered when copying geometry to different levels why the geometry does not change color or highlight when it’s selected. When copying a bunch of geometry it's hard to remember what has already been selected. Thus resulting in double lines. Is there a way to change this? If not, it would be nice to see something done in the next release of MasterCam. Thanks,
  14. Well Thanks for the support! I thought this forum was a place to get support from other Mastercam users? I thought wrong. I guess this site is a place to get a bunch of crap from fellow users who use their keyboard to compensate for ???. Figure it out Thanks for the help
  15. Hello, Does anyone one have a post for a Mori Seiki NV5000? We getting a new one on the floor here in a couple of weeks. I'm just getting a head start on a post. It's our first Mori Seiki on the shop floor! So I don't have a good starting point with any kind of post. Any help would be great. Thanks,
  16. Wow only a couple of reply's on this. I can't believe more people havent complained. I find this to be a nagging issue. Does anyone know if Mastercam has addressed this?
  17. Hello, We program most of our parts on a horizontal machine working on multiple views. A problem we see is with the bounding box following our our views while switching from view to a different view. When we are switching between the different views and go to varify the bounding box does not follow the current view. We have to go back to the job set up and go thru the motions. It's kind of a pain. Anyone have a work around or suggestions?
