  1. Ok guys, I totally understand. And both methods worked. Thank you for quick helpful response. Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca. V8 Lathe and Mill
  2. In the lathe8 roughing cycle for doing rough boring I have noticed that I have to create geometry at the end of the straight through bore (an internal phantom shoulder) to make the step over work. If I do not the cutter only takes 1 finish pass as if it doesn't know there is material to be roughed on the bore. I would have thoght the preveious tool (a drill) would define the stock left to machine and the boring tool would start there. Any clues here? Thanks all, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca. V8 Lathe and Mill
  3. Hello All, I am running Lathe 8. I program for two different machines and have two posts and two setup sheet posts(A .set., and B.set) When I post I can choose which post to use in operation/post. However, when I run operation/options/setup sheet, there is no choice for A.set or B.set. I then have to change the .set at config/files/setup sheet before posting the set up sheet. Is there a way to associate the .set in the .pst files? Or is there some other trick? Thank You, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca. V8 Lathe and Mill

    Zoom

Hello, When I use pgup, pgdn for zoom somedays it is slow and jerky and other days fast and smooth. I try to test this with small drawings, same results. No other programs running etc. Any ideas? Thanks, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  8. Hello, I tried the uptxt8.dll to no avail. However I tested the frplunge change in the post by modifying the tapping section with frplunge rather than fr and it worked. However I would still like to know why fr did not work. It would seem that the feed window in tapping paramaters is NOT assigned to the fr variable as it was in V7. Is this simply a mistake in V8 or did CNC dedide to assign frplunge to this window?? This stuff is fascinating, but time consuming. Thank you all, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  9. Hello, I have mill8. When I changed from mill 7, around 3 months ago, everything worked good.I hadn't yet done a tapping cycle until today. When I posted the tapping cycle it output a G84 cycle with a feed rate of F -2.(negative 2). In version 7 the G84 nc code would come out perfect every time.(A positive feed rate). I am using the same post in both cases. In the parameters screen for feed rate I tried to change the feed from 10 to 20 and the nc output -2 again. I worked on the post and discovered that it was getting -2 for the fr (Feed Rate variable) no matter what I put in the parameters screen. This occurs only in Tapping. Other operations feed rates work just fine. Please help. Thank You, Andy Gordon
  10. That worked great! Your a life saver! How did you know to do this? Ever grateful, Andy Gordon ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  11. Hello all, I now have a new system and with it came new problems. Intel PentIII, 256ram, pc133. Video card: ATI Fury Pro 32mb. Windows ME I installed MC8 and: Zoom, Arrow keys panning, fit screen, gviews, etc., DO NOT WORK. Is it the Video card? Fortunately the old computer is still up. All advice appreciated. Thank you, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  12. Lathe8 does this for me flawlessly. So I checked and discovered that mill.cfg file said at line 503 "Toolpath (NCI) extension? .mc8". So I changed it to ".nci" and this fixed all. My question is now: can this be changed from configuration or does one need to edit the mill8.cfg? ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca. 13. Well, that box is checked save nci file. Then the next window that comes up says at the top "Save NCI file" but in the field window it says "Myjob.mc8" There is no option here for .nci The next window says "Myjob.nc" as it should. ??? In lathe8 all this works perfectly, but in Mill8 the above happens.???? Is there another switch somewhere. Thanks, Andy
  14. This is a similar question to the previous persons post. When I upgraded to mc8, and was doing posting I would get an MC8,NCI,NC files. But recently I only get MC8 and NC files. I switched something which I can no longer find that puts the NCI in the MC8. I want to switch it back to where I get a separate NCI file. Can you tell me where to find this? The job setup switch doesn't seem to do it. Thanks, Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  15. Works great, thanks! Andy ------------------ Gordon Engineering Eureka, Ca.
  16. Im trying to organize my jobs by Customer folder with Sub folders for each of their machined parts. And, I store the mc8, .nci, .nc, and .doc all in the same part folder. The easiest way I have found to do this to start the job by resetting all the file paths for these extensions in (configure/files) to the new job part folder. Is there some way that these files will just default their location to the mc8 folder I create? Or some easier way to handle this?
