  1. Hello All, I have a question about DNC computer cable. We use CIMCO DNC and I need to re-wire some machine that we moved. We simply cannot afford the CIMCO brand name cable and I was wondering if anyone else would have Belden or Omni cable part # that they use. I found a belden part # 8133 (28 AWG stranded (7x36) TC conductors, datalene insulation, overall Beldfoil (100% coverage) with 3 pairs), but I am not sure. Thank you for your help. -Dave
  2. I have a part that I have to do that requires a revolved wireframe toolpath ( I only have Mill level 1). The centerline of the features rotation is at a 45 degree angle to the system axis, It produced a crazy toolpath. I rotated the part so the centerline is aligned with the X axis and the result were great. But I cannot have the part orientated that way in the machine, so I put it back the way it was ( at a 45 to the X) and created a new plane for that one tool path. It looks fine, but when I post the code I think it will not work, seeing that I have two planes and all. Do i need to add some code rotate the axis on my machine. It is a 3 axis Haas VF5. Sorry for the novel, but this has me jammed up.Thanks. X3 - mill level 1
  3. Maybe one of you lathe guys can help me with this. We have a Mori Seiki SL-35B/750 with a MORIC-T5F control. When the operator is creating a program using the conversational control he creates operations, and enters in the tool info and cutting parameters for each operation in the conversational side of the control. When he shuts the machine and restarts it in the morning, all of the operations are there, but the parameters (i.e. cut direction, depth of cut, etc) are missing. He was not done with program yet. How does he save his progress?I looked in the book and found nothing. Thank you.
  4. We have a part that is made out of inconel 625, one of the other engineers specified case hardening or nitriding, is it possible to do this?
  5. Horst wouldn't you learn more doing it the "old fashion way".
  6. I have also been looking for a similar cycle for gun drilling on our horizontal. We have edit our code after posting and add it. It would be nice if there was a custom drill cycle. I wish I knew how to do it.
  7. Hey Jon, I was always wondering what/who you were and i checked online. People do not like you. Your like that annoying weirdo kid in class. Your fun to poke fun at and listening to you is funny, at first. Then you look down and wonder why this freak is dry humping your leg and won't stop. Did your parents lock you in a paint closet when you were being an annoying little bas$ta&d. That would explain allot. Has anyone here ever actually meet this freak? i picture him as low IQ eunuch that wears a tin foil hat. Am i close?
  8. Does your mastercam reseller offer online tech help? We have this service as part of our maintenance and service contract. Its helps out allot. When you come across an issue or "new" idea, research here and within mastercams help menu. You will learn allot along the way and you will better understand the question you have. Then call up your reseller for a net view or tech help. Just give yourself a time restriction so you do not end up spending the whole day on the problem. Also make sure everything is configured properly, such as tool libraries, post, machine defs, etc etc. You can focus easier and its great when you can post code that does not need to be edited.
  9. 1.6 micrometers does approximately equal 64 micro inches. Here is why. 1 mm = 1000 um 1 mm = .03937 in setup the conversion like this 1.6 um X in ------ = ---- ---> solve for X 1000 um .03937 in X =.000062992 and multiply by 10^6 to get back to micro inches X = 62.992 microinches or 63 Ra This kind of stuff can mistakenly make a $100 job into a $1000 pretty quick.
  10. Hello everyone, I wanted to just throw a line out here to see if anyone would be interested in a programming position at Parkinson Technologies in Woonsocket, RI. We make custom machinery with little to no production runs. We use X2 Mill 1 and Lathe 1. We also have a full software maintenance/tech agreement with our distributor in MA. It would be a full time , first shift position. our website is http://www.parkinsontechnologies.com/ if you are interested I can give you the contact info for the Operations Manager. Thanks
  11. The ME dept at my company uses solidworks exclusively, we have about 25 seats. So MCAM integrating with solidworks would be great. One issue is the hole wizard. Would mastercam be able to automatically spot/drill/ tap the holes based on the hole wizard info? It would be great if it could read the info spot all of the various holes, then drill all the holes, and then tap. It would be a huge time saver. Also having the flexibility of the 2d ops would be great.
  12. WHAT ABOUT FIXING THE PRINT BUTTON. SO WHEN I PRINT IT WILL SHOW THE ORIGIN AND AXES, IT WORKED BEFORE I LOADED THE LATEST SP. I DID CHECK THAT THE PRINT SCREEN INFO WAS CHECKED.
  13. I am curious to see if there is a bug with new SP1 release. I use printouts of the part in mcam as setup sheets. Before I loaded SP1 for MR2, the axes would always print out, I want that. Now it doesn't print out the axes, just the part ( i did click the print screen info box). Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks
