  1. I have a new i7 pc that has a Quadro FX 380 card now . It runs Mastercam pretty slow in verify. Will this XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870 video card work with Mastercam and SolidWorks? I can get one for $60. I want to play games and use for 3D solids and high speed surfacing tool paths. I just don't wnat to pay the $800 to $2000 for a high end or mid range Quadro FX card that won't play the games as good. $60 to $1000 is a big difference. Why are the Quadro FX cards such a cash cow? Thanks
  2. Great thanks for the info. I found a brand new Quadro FX 380 card for $20 on eBay so I bought it. But since I do alot of surfacing and solid modeling with SolidWorks maybe I should get the Quadro FX 2000 or better. So does the size of the CPU (2/4or6 Core and GHZ) make more difference with verify speed then graphics card? I am looking into a six core.
  3. Hello, I am running MasterCam X5. My pc seams to run verify slow. Will a better video card speed up verify? How about a Quadro FX 380 video card? I am thinking of buying a six core. Will this make verify faster? My current PC configuration Manufacturer Intel® Core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz Clock Speed 3.3GHz L2 Cache Size 512 12gb's of Ram Intel® HD Graphics (On board graphics)
  4. Which card is better for SolidWorks and Mastercam... my Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator HD or a NVIDIA Quadro FX380 256 MB GDDR3 Graphics Card?
  5. Hello, I have been off using MasterCam for a few years. I now, do to the economy had to go back to my MasterCam duties. I used V9 and older alot for about 10 years. Also alot of SmartCam. I have played around a bit with the new X,3,4,5. I need to get current. I will be working in a couple weeks. I am a journeyman machinist and have been a supervisor and lead in many shops. I also was in the sales for indexable carbide for 5 years. My latest job will be in a high end injection mold and punch tool and die shop. What would be the fastest and best way to start practicing with the new X5 with Mill 3D surfacing , lathe and getting used to working with X5? They told me they don't use solids because there is no benefit for it so it will be wire frame 3D surface stuff. Also will be some 4th axis stuff. I have ran and set up 3/4/5 axis machines and just about every brand or make out there. Thanks
