  1. Okumas are very high quality machines, no sensitive issues whatsoever. OSP is a very nice control. Its Okumas own control, runs ISO Programmes. Beautiful machines.
  2. Hello Tony, Do you use Cycle 32 and various tolerance settings for your programe runs?
  3. Thankyou all, Ya,, the MAFord Alumi ones are what I found good and sharp. will Look into viper from destiny what it does special. Imco, ( the orange!) not used recently for plastic. but have used on steel. They are good too.
  4. Thankyou all, Plastics mainly PC-Polycarbonate, POM-Delrin, Looking for really good cutters, any one using cutters from Japan or Europe. This is for high quality Product Development work, not for production,
  5. Heloo Mastarcam Knowledge Bank! Wonder what make of cutters are there that are best made for machining Plastics and Aluminium? What coatings are favourable to have? Cheers! Pilot
  6. Hello Depas, How is Esprit? easy? good? What did u use Esprit for? mill? lathe? Just curious to know as u come from using it, and now can campare wrt masterofcam. Thanks.
  7. Hey Aeroguy bud, what made you come from Powermill to MC? you must be missing PM for sure.
  8. Featurcam was an American made, later bought by Delcam, So do not assume it is brilliant !! as Powermill software. Delcam just owns it. If you were still using MC6, till 2011!!! do not worry you'll be much much fine with MC X5. do not distract from path. Change is good, but MC6 to X5 is quite good enough!! Feature base machining recognition - Ask yourself if your parts are alike need FBM. 2 cents
  9. Hi Apps, I was exactly looking what covers each segment best. Since Mastercam users are great explorers so I thought to take an opinion from this wealthy knowledgebank. Hi Mic , thanks for your honest reply, About NREC I heard there are only 100 users (across globe)? You are no doubt right that skilled programmer can do almost every thing with Mastercam, but you also know that What powermill can do, mastercam is not near to it when it comes to Molds. Thats the reason I raised this topic to learn about strengths of softwares so we can use the right tool for the right job. Any more users have something to share.
  10. There are different sectors of machining:- 2.5 axis - 2D work. 3 axis - Mold, 3D work. 4 axis - Blades, Roller/Cams. 5 axis - Mold, Aerospace, Impellar, Port. Lathe - 2 Axis Lathe. Millturn - Multi Tasking, B axis contouring, Eccentric Turning. Star-Swiss Lathes - Im sure mastercam users would have experience with other Cam systems? and how would you rate the softwares that best do a particular job? Say for eg in your knowledge:- Which CAM is best and powerfull for Impellar machining ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Port machining ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Mold/Electode work ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Aerospace Type parts ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for High Speed Machining ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Full 4 Axis work? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Lathe work? Which CAM is best and powerfull that handles Mill-Turn machining ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Citizen/Star type Lathes ? Which CAM is best and powerfull for 2D work? Which CAM is best and powerfull for Feature Based Machining ? Which CAM is best and powerfull that handles everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! M a s t e r ... Softwares in question are for eg:- Tebis Hypermill Powermill Machining Strategist Mastercam Surfcam Edgecam Peps Cimatron Esprit UG Catia Proe Gibbs Geopath
  11. Any Ladies?? please raise hands!!!!!!
  12. Depends on the simplicity of jobs, If slyym claims that in 10 years had not no difficulty creating , then may the company slyyms work is dealing with straight forward 2d type parts ( may not have tried doing Chamfer on a cross hole drilled on a pipe/cylinder!!!) However if company has funds, and boss agrees then by all means let the new technology come. Infact it is companys expansion by buying a special design tool.
