  1. That's real old school. G50 creates a work coordinate system relative from the current position of the tool. So, if the tool is in the wrong place when G50 is set, the work coordinate system will be wrong. The X value in the G50 line should be the diametric distance from the tool to the X0 point on the workpiece. If the tool is a boring bar and it has a tool offset, the X value would be from the center of bar. If you deleted some tools from the program, the tool may be indexing at a place which is different from what the existing G50 is set for. Hope this helps. Be sure to dry run away from the part.
  2. quote: go back and look at the geometry, i've seen issues where the geometry will generate a model but it actually has overlapping entities or entities that actually don't touch ____________________________ Thanks, I'll check that on Monday.
  3. Hello, I've been exporting solids created in mcx2 to our CMM for inspection purposes. The format is .sat and has worked well in the past. However, my latest job caused the cmm software to hang. I then tried loading the same .sat file in Solidworks and that crashed too. So I re-exported the file as an IGES and was able to load it into SW, however SW stated the model had gaps it had to "heal". Any ideas what could have caused this? The model was made of extruded flat geometry with boolean additions to form one solid body. Also, a couple of small changes were made to the flat geometry and the solid was successfully regenerated.
  4. I am transitioning to X and enjoying the new features but I find some of the icons not intuitive. Any way to create your own icons?
