  6. I have to machine a lot of magnesium, and I am looking for some advice on cutting fluid. I will cutting it in a Haas VF3. I am concerned about using water based cutting fluid. Any ideas? Thanks
  7. I'v been in Indy for ten years. I lived in Whittier until I was around 7 or 8 then we moved to Hacienda Heights. My grandmother just moved out of Whittier a few months ago after 60 some years, and I still have freinds that live there. Small world !
  8. Thanks Hardmill I'll give that a shot in the morning. I never noticed you are from La Habra. I lived in and aroung Whittier until I was 25, then I moved to Indy
  9. We have X running on two machines, one works fine the other crashes all the time in backplot. The one that works is a Dell Precision 3700 p4 with 1 gig ram, Nvidia Quadro FX1300 video card with 128mb. The one that crashes is a Dell insperion 9300 laptop with a Pent M 1.65ghz with 768meg of ram. It has and Nvidia G-Force 6800 card with 256mb. Both running XP service pack 2. Any ideas? A file that runs fine in the 3700 will crash in the 9300. So it is not a file issue. At this point I am hoping that the new service pack for X will fix it. I'm not sure it will. Thanks in advance.
  10. A few easy questions for you experts. 1.How do you get my tool #'s to default to use sequential #'s? 2. How do you import your tool library from V9? I have followed the directions in the transition guide, but I still don't have it correct. 3. How do you get the nci file name to defualt to the program file name? This used to happen automatically in V9.All I get now is the machine group for an nci file name.Somtimes I do 10 or 15 programs a day and it gets a little old. That's all for now thanks.
  11. How do I get any x-form operation to defult to move instead of copy? Thanks
  12. Posting dialog does appear, defualt set to mastercam editor. If I hit ok on the activeX window the editor comes up but does not diplay my program. I can open the NC file with the editor and it appears to be correct.
  13. When I try to post I get a message that says the ActiveX component cannot create object. It does this on any post I use. It only happens on one of my computers. I tried rebooting and reloading X yesterday, that worked but today it's back to the same old thing. My IT guy and Mastercam dealer can't figure it out either. Thanks
  14. The slow down happens on two of the laptops using tha NetHasp, But not on the workstation that we are using as the server. I will have to retest the laptop with the NetHasp set to local. I'll also check the internet firewall. Thanks
  15. We recently upgraded to a NetHasp along with another mill seat.It is installed on a new Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop, with a 1.6 Ghz Pent. M processor with 768 meg of RAM. It also has an Invida graphics card. While working in MasterCam the computer somtimes runs slow. E.g. do a bunch of mouse clicks, create toolpaths and geometry, then click the main menu or file-get buttons and the computer just stops. 30 seconds or so later it catches up again. Unfortunatly it doesn't happen all the time so it is hard to pinpoint. (it happeens on an older laptop as well) We are using one of workstations as the Nethasp server and we don't have a problem with it. (Pent 4 3.0 Ghz with 1 Ghz Ram) Even if we put the hasp on the laptop we still have the same problem. We have tried changing the NetHasp.INI file so that it looks for only one server IP adress. That didn't work either. Has anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks 9.1 MR0105 All computers running XP Pro.
  16. Thanks guys. I will try the IOGEAR adapter. If that doesn't work I will go th PCMCIA card route. Anthony, Thanks for the info, I talk to Mitch all the time. He recommended not using the USB to DB9. I am just tring to save a little money since I spent my budget on a new machine and another seat of MasterCam.
  17. No we bought it from an computer supply store.
  18. Using another computer with an rs232 cable. I have triple checked the setting to make sure they are the same. What I don't know is should the settings change for the USB connector. Thanks
  19. We just purchased a new laptop, which only has a usb port. We also purchased a usb to rs232 cable (usb to db25), but we cannot get the pc to send or recieve programs to our control. I have done a search and didn't find any answers that worked. I talked to my Haas AE and he sent me some things to try and those didn't work either. Using the Cimco editor and Com port 5 on my pc. Is anyone using this set up with success? Thanks P.S. I can send programs from my other computer using a db9-db25 connection XP Pro, Version 9.1 MR0105, NetHasp
  20. We just recieved a new Mazak Nexus 200ms and I am trying to get Mastercam to post out the proper code for face contour milling. I am using the MPLTPLSC post off of the CD. Can someone please supply me with some sample code for milling, so I can see what I need to change. The post works good for everything else, so far. Version 9.1 MR0304 Thanks Or if someone has a post that is perfected I may be interested in buying it, if that is OK.
  21. Is anybody using live tooling made by TechLeader? If so are you happy with them? What's your opinion on who makes the best and worst live tooling? We are few weeks away from delivery of our new Mazak and with no experience with live tooling, we want a to make sure we buy the best tooling we can afford. Thanks for your input.
