  1. Thanks for all info. I think I will begin with 2x 688 considering price is good. Is it a good idea to get a torque wrench for the vise to get always same pressure.
  2. Orange vise looks really nice. but cost much more than kurt. A 6x16. Seems to cost over 1300usd.
  3. Im currently looking a kurt vise. I dont really know which one to choose. model. D688 Hd690 Hd691 Currently hd690 are back order. 8 week.... so I ask my vendor about hd691. But it almost double price but cant really see the difference on their website. Anyone know why hd691 is more pricy. Also. Anyone using d688. Does this vise is strong enough. I will be using it on a hurco vm10i.
  4. It's happen to me sometimes with Mastercam, If I close and re-open Mastercam Its works for me Maybe try Settings - Ram Saver dont know if its will help you but give it a try..
  5. Control-Alt-Delete Windows Task Manager click on Processes tabs right click on mastercam.exe (should be done everytime you open mastercam I dont know how to set by default) my other computer all processor was by default.. not this one... click SET AFFINITY check All Processors Now if you process a toolpath that use multithreading you should see a difference (thats why first time I got same time as old computer because was processing only on 1 processor.) and 5 axis toolpath, like multisurface dont not use multithreading) Write here again if you guys get better results. and share your new times !
  6. Ohhhh today i got the idea to check if MastercamX5 was set to all processor in affinity (I found it was only set to 1 processor!) so here is my new time ! Mastercam X5 MU1 Time to process: 47.627sec Mastercam X4 MU3 Time to process: 58.33sec laptop/desktop: DELL T1600 CPU & speed: XEON E3-1280 3.5ghz Operation System Win 7 64bit Ultimate RAM & RAM speed: 8Gb RAM
  7. Im currently looking for a way to make a mold without uncercut from a STL. My problem is not to make the mold, because its pretty easy for me right know. I need a way to calcule, and cut the STL and make a 2 pieces Mold without undercut. The mold is for making a part of a human body, and my customer need 2-3 pieces mold. (like a 3D curve, spline, that follow the side of the body to assure no undercut, after that Bolean the STL body from a block and cut from that 3D curve) Our problem is not to machine that part (we have 5 axis) but if actually for our customer that do something like fiberglass on it or another product and no undercut is allowed Is there are any addons, or any software that can do this actually? We are looking at Catia but even Catia dont seems to do it... Thanks I dont know if I was clear enough...
  8. Time to process: 1min 29sec laptop/desktop: DELL T1600 CPU & speed: XEON E3-1280 3.5ghz Operation System Win 7 64bit Ultimate RAM & RAM speed: 8Gb RAM I would say im not really impress with that files. My old computer was I7 860, 4ram and WIn7 I was doing about same maybe a bit slower. I tested my 2 computer with a files that I have to do often at work. Old computer (I7860) 15min 50sec. New computer (E3 1280) 7min 26 sec. So now I know that I did the good choice
  9. Hello thanks for you help on forum If you had the choice between these two, which one you think will perform best? at cpubenchmark de 2.8 seems to work faster, but you tell me that mastercam works better with higher ghz..
  10. Ok so on Dell.ca the highest Ghz I found is 3.5 Boost to 3.9 Quad Core Xeon E3-1280 on a T1600 (T3500 or 5500 dont have this cpu) I linked a jpg, do you think its a good choice?
  11. I knew that site, I used it for choosing my cpu but does it really process faster if number a higher? exemple, paying 500-600$ more a cpu (maybe 2000-4000 higer in benchmark) Will it save me few seconds or can it really save me 10-20% times in a piece that need 1 hours computing?
  12. hello guys, I scrolled a lot this thread to search imformation... I would like to know something, what is best to have More ram or faster processor (4 core, 6 core, dual quad, dual six) to process toolpath? Im currently looking for a new dell computer in a range of 3000$ I will go with a Nvidia quadro 2000, maybe 6- or 8 ram. im I am hesitating with 3 processor ( or u can suggest me one) -Six Core xeon W3670 3.2 - Six Core Xeon E5645 2.4 - Quad Core Xeon W3565 3.2 We are doing ALOT of big STL file so I need a quick PC to process all this. Thanks.
  13. I would like to know the difference between Maximun angle step (inside tool axis control menu) and Smooth Surface Normal (inside Ultility menu) Has anyone here experimented a combinition of those two parameter in five axis toolpath? Which one is better and why ?
  14. what do you think of that monitor? 24" samsung LED. http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/samsun...9f58619164e8en0 2
