  1. We have been using FocalPoint DNC for some time now and have had some issues with it. Our focalpoint team has just decided our problems (partial files and non overwritten files) were because we edit (view) our file before placing it in our dnc folder.(having the edit checkbox on at post option) Now in real time is this valid?

    mx2mr2

    xpsp2

  2. We are hiring some new employees and I wanted to update our Book lib. how far off is X3? I would hate to buy a bunch of X2 training tutorials to find they would be outdated soon. I know alot of the data would still apply to X3.

  3. MX2 MR1 SP1

Ok maby its just me but when I merge a Part from another MX2 my current program is now renamed to the file I merged from, Had I noticed this earlier I may not have overwritten my Merged file.

Is this a bug or simply a switch?

  4. Ive noticed this years ago but it was never an issue untill now. using parallel finish surface to machine a spherical part we get faceting effect(small flats) although out filter is set to off or even .0005 we still get a irregular surface. I assume somone must have had this same problem surfacing? any suggestions? cool.gif

  5. What would be some Doo's and dont's?

We have been keeping posts, tool/material libs, and mcx files on the server, every year we need to create new posts to suit our library, and with X having paths that change makes this a pain in the @ss, Any Ideas??? confused.gif

  6. We currently have been using .SET file for our setup sheet and the new MR1 install over our SP3 has it saving in a different location and naming it SETUPSHT instead of its Program #... also MR1 likes to print blank sheets. and i just got SP3 to print right. DOH! ANy ideas??? thanks

  7. Is it just me or does the rest of the mastercam world also have a problem making hardcopies with version X. prints drafting but no geomitry, if there is no drafting well it prints the axis lines only. the only way i can get it to print is to set my background color to white... There has to be an easier way banghead.gif

  8. sean thats a simple cut and paste... the program should be first run under G54 then rotate your 4th G90 to position and copy the program again with G55 replacing the G54 in the start of every tool, or for example in some machines your offsets look like this

    G50 x 0.00 y 0.00 z 0.00 b 0.00

    g54 x 10.00 y 10.00 z 0.00 b 0.00

    g55 x 10.00 y 10.00 z 0.00 b 180.00

this would also work without using the G90 position

  9. Whats the deal with the "VOODOO" in post processors... I get a kick out of hearing somone is paying $1,000 per axis for a "working" post. Its such a shame. I have been around since V3.1 and shared every post I have ever had that anyone ever needed. Has Greed gone that far? confused.gif this post is not to flame the poor #@$!*'s that try and charge that much but to get some feedback from everyone who has "the gripe" ... again if i have it so can you... no charge cheers.gif

  10. We have an Okuma CNC Lathe with a osp700l control can somone hook me up with a Post or a base post? the one Provided dosent cut it. I modifyed the current to give me good numbers but i dont dare run it. tongue.gif

  11. quote:

and now who do I call if there's a problem?

HAAS machines are put together so simply anyone can fix the most major problems. Haas wanted to charge us $600 for replacing a monocrome monitor which i grabbed for $5 at a local computer store. It fit perfect and pluged right in. hate to see what they would have charged to install it smile.gif again with the same machine (VF1 1992) the micro switches which tell it turret out or in became sticky and eventually stuck, Causing the spindle to start engaged in carosell Sparks Flew! Z goes down and BooM carosell drops into the bottom of the machine. Sounds bad? cost $25 for a new dual "v" bearing, helicoil the casting, $120 for 2 new switches, 2 days downtime. and 2 big guys to lift carosell back into place. Adjust a quick parameter for Z alinment. Could have cost a hell of alot more than $150 if HAAS did it. You guys have to realise you dont need to call Haas to repair or replace s#!t. biggrin.gif
