  1. I was told by DMG that that option requires a inline air oiler to protect the rotary union.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm trying to create a custom tool in 2018 and can see it shadowed inside the tool Mastercam is showing. (See Attached) What am I doing wrong? Thanks Frank Custom Tool.docx
  3. Hi everyone, We have inherited a Okuma MC-4VAE with a OSP5020M control and are having problems with homing the machine at startup. Is this necessary? And if so how is it accomplished? Also if any one can send me some sample code it would be appreciated, just so I can get the toolchange , safety , and retract code right. Thanks Frank
  4. Is anyone out there making parts (not molds) on a Roders cnc. We have inherited a RPX 800 with a RMS6 control and are having problems with getting it to act as a production cnc mill. It doesn't like arcs, wants to reprobe tools when moving to different work coordinates and we are not 100% sure how it determines tool lengths (its not using a gage length from face of spindle to tip of tool when the laser sets the tools). Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks Frank
  5. Try putting a precision plug into the ID before drilling and tapping.
  6. If the slots are exactly 2x dia in the long direction, you have a Rad VS Dia problem in your post for live milling.
  7. In my experience Makino has always been a very dependable and accurate machine. The shop I'm at now has all 5x Mikrons and even though I prefer these for "Job shop" work because of their accuracy and the ease of the Heidenhain controls, I miss the dependability of the Makinos.
  8. Thanks Jas6142, I tried that but diden't get anything. I suspect that our anti-virus may be blocking this feature.
  9. Thanks for the reply Guys, I thought that MasterCam used to have a place for "Tool change time".? Oh Well... Greyman, I have the Cimco editor that comes with Mastercam , where can I find the cycle time at?
  10. Hi Everyone, My backplot times are not adding toolchange times into the total time. Is there a place that I can add the chip to chip time for my Tool changer? Thanks
  11. I had similar "invalid arc" alarms in X4 at my old employer (a major defense contractor with lots of computer security)at lease 3 or 4 a day, and you knew that the system would lock up next! , However when I started at a new employer last year using the same level of X4 the problems went away completely, another programmer that I started with had the same experience! Maybe the problem is a compatibility issue with certain security software packages?! Just a thought.
  12. I'm glad to here that you used coolant! I have lots of material to remove. These parts are about a 75% Material removal 25% part.
  13. Thanks T_Malena, I have ordered some diamond surfaced cutters from Harvey tool that I hope will be in next week. Today to prep the material I used a 3 flt carbide TIALN coated mill @ 400 SFM and dulled the tool in about 9 mins. This SFM is apparently to fast. What SFM did you use?
  14. Thanks for the reply. Do you think that this material can support a dovetail without cracking? I need to either hold with a dovetail or drill and tap into the material to hold the part for 5axis machining.
  15. Hi everyone, I have a job coming up that I need to machine out of PEEK with 30% carbon fiber. It's a support bracket with .15 & .1 thick walls, profile tolerances of .002, .160 Dia Hole's and slots w/tolerances of .0005 & true positions of .002 . The part is approximately 2" x 2" x 3". Any good feeds and speeds for drilling / milling with carbide, tool selection would be greatly appreciated. This is a non medical part so can I run it in coolant? Should we stress relieve or just rough & finish. I will be running this on a small 5 axis so I can 90% rough before finishing. I have 20 of these to make so I can buy some specific tools if required Thanks Frank
  16. To All, Thread mill working great!!! I had to com a .0001 every 8 holes (no big deal). 24 holes done and still on the same thread mill. Thanks again for all your help. Frank
  17. Thanks Guys, The input is appreciated. Dave unfortunately my customer won't let me form tap. I'm going to try Spot, Drill, Size w/ endmill, Thd Mill. I will let you know how it turns out! Frank
  18. Thanks Randy, I just got the thread mill in today (single thread) and you almost need a microscope to see the tip! Have you ever done a 2-56? If so what were your parameters?
  19. Hi, I'm looking for options on putting 2-56 2x Deep Blind tapped holes in 6al 4v Titanium. This material is on the harder side at 35 RC-C. Using Emuge taps for titanium is not going so well. Has any one tried thread milling? Thanks Frank
