  1. Why is it every time I change a computer or try to pass some changes in my control def to another programmer I loose the custom drill cycles that I have setup? They never seem to come along with the switch. We have probe routines setup in the custom cycles and I always seem to have to re type them in.

  2. First time for me with this. I have a tube with a slot going thru one side, need to mill a radius between the slot wall and the I.D. The solid is sound. I defined a lollipop tool and am trying to cut it with a blend path. MC rejects the lollipop and generates a path with a spherical tool. I am not getting the path I need. What am I missing?

  3. I thought I might tap the resources here for some suggestions. I am looking for a high feed drill to punch holes for round milling larger bores. We are a short run job shop and when it comes to larger bores we round mill when we can. Materials we cut run the full spectrum, alum thru 4140, rarely exotics. We have a couple of 40 taper DV1500 Mori MCS with thru spindle coolant here and would like to put a 3/4ish drill in the tool changer just for quickly punching start holes, 2.50 DOC would work.

    Thoughts?

  4. Hello, I am looking to set up a few different machines using the Machine Definition as they are meant to be used. There are only minor differences between the machines, max rpm, tapping, home codes and such. There are posts setup for the differences and right now the guys are changing the post processor rather than changing the machine. I know the Machine is linked to the control and the control is linked to the post. How can I just make copies of what I have and set the links form the machine to the control?

    Thanks

  5. I have have never been much of a contributor here but I try and help out when I can.  I have started a new job and I am working on a Monarch machine with a Fanuc 18i control. The machine was bought used and it seems that the machine builder is a small U.S. Company. I have emailed Monarch but they have not provided much help. The machine and control are set up so that it will not execute  a G01 with out the spindle running. Beyond it being a big annoyance when running and setting up, it makes it impossible to use a spindle probe. I am in need of some help here any direction would be great.

    Thanks

  6. Hey Colin thanks for taking a look at it. Your guidance on this forum is unparalleled, I always take a peek at a thread that I see you are involved in. I did mess with waterline after I posted and found the same as you. I do not do too much 3d stuff and I have a bad taste in my mouth with waterline from V9 so It is not my first choice. As far as the step over our plunge guy is over the top picky so I over do the settings a bit. Thanks again.

  7. I want to add some sense to saving our ever evolving posts. I am planning on saving them as versions and as we move foreword just add the latest version to the control definition. Then if there is a problem we can easily switch back to a proven version. We have a few seats of M/C and we keep our machine defs, operatons and tools files on the server. The last time I added a post I lost all of the pointers to the files on the server. I really don't want to have to reset this stuff, is there a way of avoiding this? Is using more than one post for a machine common?

  8. I am working on adding a bit of error handling to our post. We program all of the part flips in one Mastercam file. At times we are copying operations between different planes and at times the plane does not get changed thus creating a bo-bo at the machine. I have added the post block below to our post.

    pcheck_plane

    if sav_workofs <> workofs$,

    [

    result = mprint(splanewarn,2)

    if result = 2, exitpost$

    ]

    It is not fool proof though since often we use the same work offset for all the setups.

    I tried using the variable tlplnno for the logic but I always get a return of 1.

    The other thought was to use the Tool Plane name string for the logic. Not sure if and how I can pull that string though. Any help would be appreciated.
